Man killed when hit near his disabled truck
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police said a Fayetteville man was killed early Sunday morning when he was struck by a car while standing next to his disabled pickup truck.
Robert Allen Patterson, 34, who lived in the Mountain Shadow Terrace development, was pronounced dead at the scene by Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner. Patterson died of multiple injuries, Conner said.
Conner said preliminary blood alcohol tests showed Patterson was "in excess of two times the limit" for intoxication. Under the Pennsylvania Crimes Code, a blood alcohol level of 0.l percent is considered legally intoxicated.
Conner said no autopsy was planned for Patterson.
Police said the incident began at about 1:30 a.m., when Patterson was driving north on Mont Alto Road, about 100 feet south of Eby Road in Guilford Township. Patterson's Ford F-150 truck ran off the east side of the road and struck a utility pole.
