Drugs, cash seized in motel room; N.Y. man held

A routine Friday night drug buy led police to the discovery of more than 300 pieces of suspected crack cocaine and a large amount of cash hidden in a motel refrigerator, Hagerstown City Police said.

Marlon Delano Burrell, 21, of the Bronx, N.Y., was being held Saturday at the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of $100,000 bond, said Sgt. Curt Wood of the city police street crimes unit.

Charges against Burrell include possession with intent to distribute cocaine, distribution of cocaine and possession of cocaine, police said.

Wood said Burrell is accused of selling crack cocaine to a confidential informant at Jonathan and Church streets Friday night.

Seven pieces of suspected crack were allegedly found in Burrell's mouth and recovered for evidence, Wood said.

A key found on Burrell led to a room at the Quality Inn on the Dual Highway where police conducted a search, Wood said.

Officers found $1,214 in cash and the suspected crack cocaine, police said.
