Harold R. Kriner

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Harold R. Kriner, 56, of 56 S. Federal St., died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Nov. 29, 1943, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Anna Mary Katherine Smith Kriner of Chambersburg and the late Adam Kritchen Kriner.

He was a 1961 graduate of Milton Hershey School in Hershey, Pa.

He worked as an HVAC engineer at Chambersburg Hospital for 27 years, retiring in 1998.

He served in the National Guard.

He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 842 of Chambersburg.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Kimberly Bigler Kriner, whom he married Aug. 3, 1974; four daughters, Rebecca McCauley of Mont Alto, Pa., Katherine Moats of Waynesboro, Pa., Samantha Kriner and Danyell Kriner, both of Chambersburg; two sons, Harold R. Kriner II of Waynesboro and Jacob Kriner of Chambersburg; two brothers, Richard Kriner and John Kriner, both of Chambersburg; two stepbrothers, Theodore Heefner Jr. of Chambersburg and Ronald Heefner of Lancaster, Pa.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, T.C. Heefner.

Services will be Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road in Chambersburg. The Rev. Peter W. Emig will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg, with military services by members of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A service will be held by Loyal Order of Moose 842 on Sunday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Anna O. Varner

QUINCY, Pa. - Anna O. Mellott Varner, 90, of Quincy United Methodist Nursing Home, and formerly of 231 N. Allison St., Greencastle, Pa., died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at the nursing home.

Born March 12, 1910, in Needmore, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Rachel Belle Funk Mellott.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Emmert Varner, in 1971.

She was employed by Ice and Cold Storage Co. in Greencastle, where she graded and packed fruits and vegetables.

She was a member of Greencastle Church of the Brethren.

She was a member of Loyal Daughters of Greencastle; AARP Chapter 3025 of Greencastle; and Greencastle Sportsman's Auxiliary.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Vera Hollenshead; and a brother, Guy Mellott.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St. in Greencastle. The Rev. Robert M. Thacker will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.

The family will receive friends Sunday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Eva M. Cockrille

KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Eva Mae Cockrille, 85, of 204 Opequon Drive, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.

Born Sept. 13, 1915, in Round Hill, Va., she was the daughter of the late John and Mable Emore Reed.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jennings Wangerman; by her second husband, Robert C. Spring; and by her third husband, Leroy Cockrille.

She retired from Manassas Manor Nursing Home in Manassas, Va., where she worked as a custodian.

She is survived by two sons, Robert F. Spring Sr. of Kearneysville and Ward L. Spring of Charles Town, W.Va.; five sisters, Ruth Stephenson and Gertrude Daniels, both of Leesburg, Va., Mary Wortman of Takoma Park, Md., Irene Kandl of Annadale, Va. and Rachael Swart of Aldie, Va.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by a son, Claude Lee Spring; a sister, Helen Lloyd; three brothers, Francis Reed, Russell Reed and John Reed; and a grandson.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Fairview Lutheran Cemetery in Bolivar, W.Va. The Rev. Douglas Fraim will officiate.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, 970 Washington St. in Harpers Ferry, W.Va.




Russell Brechbill

SMITHSBURG - Russell Brechbill, 91, of 20837 Jefferson Blvd., died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Aug. 14, 1909, in Greenvillage, Pa., he was the son of the late Harvey and Ida Elizabeth Cramer Brechbill.

He was employed by Fairchild Aircraft, retiring in 1972 after 32 years.

He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Chewsville.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Glenna Miller Brechbill; a daughter, Janet B. Venneri of Middletown; two sons, David R. Brechbill of Boonsboro and Daniel G. Brechbill of Clear Spring; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Violet Craig.
