Friday, Oct. 6

Pink Ribbon Restaurant Place Mat Day - Dozens of Tri-State restaurants will use Y-ME Pink Ribbon place mats.

Sunday, Oct. 8

Chili Cook-off Extravaganza - Local businesses will compete in a chili cook-off at Valley Mall. Cook-off begins at noon. Judging is at 3 p.m. Prizes will be awarded at 3:30 p.m. There will be a karaoke contest, sumo wrestling, jousting and moonwalk. Musical performances begin at 2:15 p.m. with Jolie and The Wanted. John Rich, formerly of Lonestar, also will perform. Yankee Grey will take the stage at 4 p.m.

Pink Shadows: Honoring Women with Breast Cancer - The Ribbon Project will host a benefit concert with a dance performance titled "Pink Shadows: Honoring Women with Breast Cancer" at Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pa. For information, call 1-717-262-2101 or 1-717-261-0405.

Monday, Oct. 9

Washington County Breast Cancer Information Group - All survivors and guests are welcome to share their experiences, questions and thoughts on living with breast cancer. Information group meets at 7 p.m. at the John R. Marsh Cancer Center. Use orange or green doors.

Tuesday, Oct. 10

Y-ME pink ribbon sticker day - Free awareness gift tag stickers will be distributed in The Morning Herald and Daily Mail.

Wednesday, Oct. 11

Waynesboro Breast Cancer Support Group - All survivors are welcome for lunch at Parlor House Restaurant at noon. For information, call 1-800-963-0101.

Lunch for Life - Join Y-ME and Jennifer Ardinger Kane, of The Plum, for the annual Lunch for Life. Kane will speak on "Healthy Living, Healthy Food." Luncheon is at 11:30 a.m. at Fountain Head Country Club. Tickets may be purchased for $25 per person. For information or tickets, call 301-791-5843.

Wednesday, Oct. 18

Pink Ribbon Day - Pin on the pink for Breast Cancer Awareness, Y-ME volunteers will be pinning on the pink at area businesses. To receive free ribbons for your workplace, call Y-ME at 301-791-5843 or 1-800-963-0101.

Park in the Pink - Parking meters and trees in downtown Hagerstown will be decked out with pink ribbons in support of breast cancer awareness. Remember to put money in the meter. The ribbons are only for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Thursday, Oct. 19

Breast Cancer Celebration of Life Survivor's Party - A dinner celebration for breast cancer survivors and their guests. The Survivors' Party is at 6:30 p.m. at Four Points Hotel Sheraton. Dr. Neil Rosenshein of Mercy Medical Center will present "Screening for Cervical Cancer." Survivors will receive a gift from Kamelot Florist. Reservations are required. Tuesday, Oct. 24

Doctors' Panel - "Menopause, Estrogen and Breast Cancer - What is a Woman's Risk and What are Her Options?" Dr. Scott Hamilton, cardiologist; Dr. Raymond Malamet, rheumatologist; and Dr. David Solberg, gynecologist/obstetrician; will answer questions. The program begins at 7 p.m. at Hagerstown Community College Kepler Theater.

Saturday, Oct. 28

2000 Y-ME Fitness Challenge - Participants can choose a 5K run, a 5-mile walk or aerobics. This fund-raising event will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at Hagerstown Community College Athletic Recreation Community Center.
