Roundup: HCC blanks Dundalk


Brian Eichelberger scored on a penalty kick in the game's first minute as Hagerstown Communtiy College defeated the state's No. 1 ranked JUCO team 1-0 on Tuesday.

HCC's Justin Lehman was fouled in the penalty area, setting up Eichelberger's penalty kick. Goalie Bobby Wilhide made a season-high 19 saves for HCC (3-4, 1-1).

Previously unbeteaten Dundalk falls to 6-1.


Greencastle 2, Scotland 0

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Tamyra Toth had eight service points, three aces and 12 assists, Mallory Ehrhart had 10 kills and Erin Berger had four kills in Greencastle's 15-4, 15-1 over Scotland.

No. 8 Greencastle is 7-1, 7-0.

McConnellsburg 2, Southern Fulton 0

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Niki Chesnut had 12 assists, eight service points and three blocks as McConnellsburg defeated Southern Fulton, 15-2, 15-8.


Jade Anthony had 11 service points for Spartans (8-0). Kyla Seville had six kills and three blocks, while Elaina Paruch added five service points and five kills.

Southern Fulton is 4-6.

JV: Southern Fulton snapped McConnellsburg's 72-match winning streak with a 2-1 victory.

Hancock 3, Goretti 1

HANCOCK - Alicia Banard had 20 service points, including 10 aces, and four kills leading Hancock to a 15-8, 8-15, 15-3, 15-10 win over St. Maria Goretti.

Darlenle Marshall and Heather Fowler each had seven points, Bethany Sterner had 10 assists, Monica Fox had nine points and six assists and Lacy McCusker six assists and nine kills for Hancock (3-3).

Heidi Siirtola had eight kills and Brett Stone added five kills and two block-kills for the Gaels (0-9).

JV: Hancock, 15-0, 15-3.

Heritage 3, Broadfording 0

Jeannette Kidd had six service points, including five aces, as Heritage Academy defeated Broadfording, 15-5, 15-13, 15-12.

Heidi Stamper had five service points, two aces and seven kills, Heather Stamper had five service points, four aces, five assists and one block and Karen Daley had three service points, two aces and two kills for Heritage (3-4, 2-2).

HVA 3, Leesburg 1

Highland View Academy defeated Leesburg Christian School 15-5, 15-7, 16-18, 15-13 as Amber Morrison had 16 kills, three digs, three service points and one ace.

Christy Bennett had nine kills, 11 service points and five aces, Larelle Byrd had nine kills, 13 assists, four digs, 14 service points and one ace, Lara Musante had one kill, 14 assists, nine service points and one ace and Lauren Nudd had five kills, two digs, one assist, five service points and one ace for HVA (7-3).

Grace 3, Calvary 0

Lauren Durbin had eight kills and three aces and Heather Kendall had 23 assists as the No. 9 Knights stayed perfect with a 15-8, 15-8, 15-5 victory. Susanna Hill added a game-high nine kills for Grace (7-0).

Hampshire 3, Martinsburg 1

ROMNEY, W.Va. - Erica Mason had 14 points and two kills, Amanda LeMaster had 12 points and 11 kills and Carrie Mong had 10 points and six kills as Martinsburg lost to Hampshire, 14-16, 15-8, 7-15, 9-15.


Goretti 3, Grace 1

David Savino, Tim Miller and Ben Hood scored goals and Hood and Steve Kamas had assists for St. Maria Goretti (3-7). Tyler Weneck had 15 saves.

St. James 3, Maret 2

ST. JAMES - Jamie Holzapfel, Ryan Wingerd and Adam Kim scored goals and Hans Baumann had two assists for St. James (2-5). Maret, the league leader, falls to 5-2.

HVA 7, Leesburg 0

Bobby Bedigo had three goals, Stephen Byrkit scored twice and Edurdo Bollati, Eric Martin each had one goal for Highland View Academy (4-2-2). Martin had two assists and Doug Gadz and Bollati each had one assist.

Heritage 4, Broadfording 0

Ryan Marquiss had three goals and Justin Cutchall had the other for Heritage (5-2-1, 3-1). Justin Cline had two saves for his third shutout of the year.


North 3, Brunswick 0

Nikki Holman scored two goals and Lindsay Smith scored one as No. 7 North Hagerstown shut out Brunswick.

Ashley Throckmorton and Megan Hudak each had assists for North (6-1, 4-0).

Emily Clutz made six saves for the shutout.

St. John's-PH 9, Old Fields 0

GLEN COE, Md. - Elizabeth Brokaw and Kim Henry had two goals apiece and Linda Horcasitos, Marta Merkel, Carly Litchfield, Noreen Kahn and Sarah McCutcheon each had one goal for No. 8 St. John's-PH (6-2-1). Lindsey Weaver had four saves in the shutout.


St. James 1, Foxcroft 0

ST. JAMES - Caytie Smith scored for St. James, which improved to 3-4.


Braddock's finishes 2nd

LAKELAND, Fla. - Braddock's Motors/Sud Shop went 10-2 over the weekend at the ASA Class B national tournament, finishing second overall.

Braddock's lost in the championship to Austin, Texas, 21-15 after a 2 1/2-hour rain delay and beating the Texans 26-25 in an elimination game.

Rocky Wills, Bill Bakner, John Fouler, Brett Livingston and Jeff Reynolds were all named to the tournament's first team, and John Hartle, Steve McKimmy and J.P. Warner were on the second team.
