County proclaims State Parks Week

The Washington County Commissioners approved three proclamations during Tuesday's meeting.

The commissioners designated October Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The proclamation was given to employees of Citizens Assisting and Sheltering the Abused, Inc. (CASA) and the Department of Social Services.

The commissioners designated the week of Sept. 23-Oct. 1 Maryland State Parks Week. Proclamations for the week extolled the benefits of having South Mountain Recreation Area, Fort Frederick State Park and other state-sponsored recreation activities and areas in the county.

The commissioners also named Oct. 1 Hagerstown Crop Walk Day. The event raises money for needy local families.
