Rain causes fender-benders



A cold front from the northwest dumped 1.4 inches of rain on Hagerstown Monday, causing a few accidents in the city, Hagerstown City Police said.

The rain started at 1 p.m. and fell steadily until 10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Sterling, Va.

Police blamed a minor two-car accident at the intersection of George and Winter streets on weather along with a collision in the 100 block of North Locust Street. Details were unavailable Monday evening.

Hagerstown has had 2.96 inches of rain so far this month and 35.27 inches for the year, forecasters said.

More rain is expected today with highs in the 50s. Temperatures reached the upper 60s on Monday.

Wednesday's weather will be sunny with highs in the 70s, forecasters said.
