Checks, cash stolen from bags

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Several checks and cash from deposit bags totaling $5,781 were taken from Just Cabinets at 1695 Lincoln Way East in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania State Police reported.

Police believe the checks and cash were stolen during the dates of Aug. 11, Aug. 20 and Aug. 31.

Key used to scratch car

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Someone used a key to scratch a car in the parking lot of Grove Manufacturing Sept. 18, Pennsylvania State Police reported.

Damage to the 1991 Chevrolet Blazer S-10 was estimated at $200.

Man faces theft charges

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A McConnellsburg, Pa., man was charged with theft after parts from a wrecked Dodge pickup truck were stolen while it was parked at Richards Auto Sales salvage lot in Todd Township, Pennsylvania State Police reported.

Police charged Kenneth Wilson Harr Jr., of 954 W. Dutch Corners Road in connection with the theft.

Fire vehicle, car collide

FREDERICK, Md. - A United Fire Co. command truck and a private passenger car collided Thursday night at W. Patrick and Court streets, Frederick Police Sgt. James P. Ledwell said.

After the collision, the car veered off the roadway and struck a traffic signal pole, he said.

All three occupants of the car were taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries and released, Ledwell said.

The firetruck received minor damage, and the car was somewhat more damaged, police reported.

Jose Abelino Lopez-Gomez, 28, of W. Key Parkway, Frederick, was cited for driving without a license, police said.

The firetruck was driving to a working fire, with emergency lights and siren, when the accident occurred, police said.

City man faces drinking charge

A Hagerstown man was charged with public drinking and littering early Friday morning near Duke's Tavern, Hagerstown City Police said.

Michael S. Dixon, 31, of 645 Oak Hill Ave., Apt. 302, was charged after a Hagerstown City Police bike patrol officer saw a man in a city parking lot at 1:55 a.m. drink from a brown bottle, according to charging documents in Washington County District Court.

The man had just exited Duke's Tavern in the first block of East Franklin Street, court records state.

The container turned out to be a Budweiser bottle, court records state.

Two firearms, knife reported stolen

Two firearms and a knife were stolen overnight Wednesday from a pickup truck on Valley Road off U.S. 340, according to Maryland State Police.

The right side windows of the 1997 Ford pickup had been smashed, police said.

Stolen were:

HEIGHT="6" ALT="* "> A Cobra .38-caliber, six-shot revolver snub nose handgun in a soft black holster and ammunition worth $450.

HEIGHT="6" ALT="* "> A fold-up hunting knife with a 7-inch blade worth $65.

HEIGHT="6" ALT="* "> Change totaling $6.

Another vehicle also was ransacked, but nothing was taken, police said.
