Mail Call for 9/25

"I am calling concerning trash from County Market. It blows all over the neighborhood, in everyone's yard. Everyone has to go around and pick it up. I don't think we should be required to do that. What is wrong with the city fathers? Why don't they get together and make them clean their own trash up?"

"Concerning the new stadium, I guess the local politicians think they are putting something over on the taxpayer's by delaying an announcement about the stadium. The agents for the California team stated on local TV last Tuesday at 6 p.m. that they are coming to Hagerstown because they are guaranteed a new stadium, so I guess it doesn't matter what the local voters want. A new stadium has been a done deal for quite some time."

"Speed bumps in the alley seems to be a no no for a few people in Williamsport. Well I am totally for it, in any of our allies. Just stop and think how those speed bumps can save someone from getting hit when walking or riding. I can't imagine what the big deal of not having them. It sure doesn't hurt a business. Thanks town guys for our speed bumps, it sure helps those speeders to slow it down a lot."

"If Gore and Clinton would stay home and do what they are paid to do, we would not be faced with high fuel oil and gas prices. It is time that they stop taking taxpayers money for a year of electioneering."

-Hagerstown

"We read on the front page now the White Water investigations are finally over after seven or eight years and $100 plus million dollars. It is amazing what the party out of power will do to try and smear somebody, especially the party that preaches tax relief constantly. That $100 million would have been better spent on our schools and health care and other things needed or given as a tax cut rather than waste it on garbage like that."

"To the mail caller commenting on the Washington County Board of Education being strange, you are right. They have miss treated many local dedicated, certified teachers with the same if not more experienced in the past. They like to bring in outsiders for the real jobs because the locals won't leave."

"I would like to wish my parents Charles and Ester Grim of Boonsboro a happy 45th wedding anniversary on Sept. 24. Love you mom and dad. Love Darlene, granddaughter Carol and grandson Marshall. Have a great day."

"Does anyone know of any plumbing companies around Hagerstown or the Williamsport area that are hiring? If so, leave your name and number."

"I lost one hood off of a lawn tractor. It is a yard man lawn tractor, orange in color. Between Sharpsburg and St. James Village. If anyone found a hood along the road, call 301-739-8441."

"A license to own eight cats, how about a license to own eight people. Since most people don't do anything for society. I can't even think of eight people that I would pay money to keep."

"Pennsylvania's money from the lottery is going into prescriptions for elderly. Why is Maryland's going into a stadium?"

"It has been two weeks since I have called in about the traffic pattern at the Wal-mart Mall. Nothing has been yet and I am going to keep calling in until something get done or straightened out."

"Why can't the state do something about the Stotler Road and Halfway Boulevard. You pull out from Stotler Road, you can't see down the road, they have the concrete barriers halfway out in the road. At night the lights from AC & T, you can't see the vehicles coming up the ramp. Please do something about this."

"I am calling to thank the Washington County Hospital, the ICU Unit. All of the doctors, Dr. Sax, Dr. Regal and Dr. West. They were wonderful with my serious illness last Sept. 23, 1999. They were wonderful caregivers. In deepest thanks, you were very wonderful."

"I am interested in this cattery law for Washington County. It sounds to me that the county or someone wants to make cheap money off the cats that are left running lose in the county. If everyone would get them spayed or neutered there wouldn't be any stray cats. As far as charging people a fine for having them, it should be enforced, not just a cattery law."

"Here is what I think about those who are complaining about having to have a cattery license for more than eight cats. Anyone that feeds eight or more cats store bought food, should have the money for a permit."

-Boonsboro

"The Monocacy Water Shed Watch is in need of more citizen volunteers. This water quality monitoring project is intended to be statewide and if enough volunteers from Washington County participate, it will enable Washington County streams to be monitored. No experience necessary. We provide all training. This project takes about two to three hours of your time, twice a year. Please help us make a difference in the water quality of Maryland and eventually our own Washington County. Call Marcy at 301-790-3808."

"The Humane Society of Washington County is not animal friendly. They want to make more cats homeless."
