John E. McGraw

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - John Earl McGraw, 93, of 602 Tuscawilla, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at his home.

Born April 18, 1907, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Peter and Marie McGraw.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edythe Christine Hemba McGraw.

He retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Burnt Mill Seventh-day Adventist Church in Silver Spring, Md.

He is survived by a daughter, Susan P. McGraw of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, Va. Pastor Luis Dadillo will officiate.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, 970 Washington St. in Harpers Ferry, W.Va.

Jackie L. Edwards

SABILLASVILLE, Md. - Jackie L. Edwards, 68, of 17009 Sabillasville Road, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at his home.

Born Feb. 11, 1932, in Middleport, Ohio, he was the son of the late Thomas L. and Viola Bartrum Edwards.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Elaine Royer Edwards, in 1984. They were married in October 1953.

He retired from Fort Ritchie Army Base in Cascade in 1988.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Germantown Church of God in Cascade.

He was a member of Edwin C. Creager American Legion Post 168 of Thurmont, Md., and William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695 of Waynesboro, Pa.

He is survived by three daughters, Deborah Valentine of Sabillasville, and Diane Finneyfrock and Donna Smith, both of Waynesboro; a son, Jackie L. Edwards of Pass Christian, Miss.; four sisters, Donna Higgins of Sturgis, Ky., Lucille Young of Columbus, Ohio, Betty Hatten of Jackson, Ohio, and Ruth Ann Parker of Greensboro, Ga.; two brothers, Charles Edwards of Cedar Buff, Va., and William Edwards of Racine, Ohio; two granddaughters; a grandson; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Colleen Van Meter, and a granddaughter.

Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Germantown Church of God, 16924 Raven Rock Road in Cascade. Pastor Paul Tobias will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Church Cemetery in Cascade.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. in Waynesboro.

Lydia M. Filbrun

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Lydia Mary Filbrun, infant daughter of Simon L. and Rachel A. Bayer Filbrun of 3949 Mont Alto Road, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pa.

She was born Sept. 19, 2000, in Waynesboro, Pa.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by three brothers, Reuben Filbrun, Malcolm Filbrun and Irvin Filbrun, all at home; maternal grandparents Lloyd and Denise Landes Bayer of Brookville, Ohio; paternal grandparents Dean and Martha Benedict Filbrun of Fayetteville; maternal great-grandparents Walter and Mildred Filbrun Bayer of Covington, Ohio, and Eldon and Janice Boitnott Landes of Englewood, Ohio; and paternal great-grandparents Lawrence Filbrun of Anderson, Ind., and Joe and Rhoda Myers Benedict of Fayetteville.

Services will be Sunday at 4 p.m. at Falling Spring Congregation Old German Baptist Meeting House, Spring Run Road in Chambersburg, Pa. Elders Donald Hess, Roland Hess and Glen Jamison will officiate. Burial will be in Falling Spring Cemetery in Chambersburg.




John C. Delauder

FAIRPLAY - John Cushwa Delauder, 88, of 8340 Reichard Road, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Jan. 31, 1912, in Spielman Station, Md., he was the son of the late Joseph M. and Leona K. Middlekauff Delauder.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Irene Leonard Delauder.

He retired after 30 years of service with Nelson Jones Gas Co. and Shawley's Gas Co., both in Hagerstown.

He was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bakersville, Md.

He was a member of Conococheague Tribe 84 Improved Order of Redmen in Williamsport and District 12 Volunteer Fire Co. in Fairplay.

He is survived by a granddaughter, Lisa Churchey of Hagerstown, and his niece and caretaker, Etta L. Lewis of Fairplay.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Glenda Mae Litten, and a brother, Ralph M. Delauder.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. The Rev. Brian H. Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Bakersville.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open at noon for the convenience of family and friends.
