The Joneses

Leon and Betty (Haines) Jones of Boonsboro celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise dinner party Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000. The event was hosted by their daughter, Shawn Palmer, and family at Boonsboro American Legion.

Many friends and relatives attended the celebration. Michael T. Myers entertained with a magic performance.

The Joneses were married July 27, 1950, by the Rev. John Myers, now deceased, in Sharpsburg.

The Joneses have been members of Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church in Boonsboro for 25 years.

Mrs. Jones was employed for 22 years at Gabriel Toys in Hagerstown. She is a homemaker.

Mr. Jones has been employed at Hamilton Nissan in Hagerstown for 35 years. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and the Korean Conflict.

They have one granddaughter.




The Ottos

Page and Betty Otto celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, with family and friends with a luncheon at the Elks ballroom in Hagerstown.

Guests came from Maryland, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Florida, Tennessee, Texas and West Virginia.

Entertainment included songs, dance routines and piano performances by family and friends.

The Ottos were married Aug. 6, 1950, by the Rev. G.I. Rider, now deceased, at Grace United Brethren Church in Hagerstown.

Mrs. Otto retired from NPS Antietam NB.

Mr. Otto retired from MOSH in 1987.

The Ottos have one son, Kirk Otto, two grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
