Local Roundup - Clear Spring edges Hancock

HANCOCK - Amie Eichelberger's 16 service points, six aces and 10 assists led Clear Spring's comeback as the Blazers pulled out a 13-15, 7-15, 16-14, 15-9, 15-9 victory over Hancock Thursday night.

Tara Myers had 23 assists for the Blazers (1-2) and Mona Wenker had 12 kills and three blocks in the win. Alicia Barnard had 10 kills and 14 service points, seven of them aces, to lead Hancock.

JV: Hancock, 6-15, 15-7, 15-10.

Smithsburg 3, Catoctin 0

THURMONT, Md. - Heather Ashley had 10 kills and three blocks to lead the No. 2 Leopards to a 15-5, 15-6, 15-4 victory in the MVAL. Michelle Feiser added 11 points for Smithsburg (5-0, 2-0). Sara Helmick had three kills for the Cougars (1-4, 0-1).

Williamsport 3, Middletown 0

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Meggie Miller led the No. 3 Wildcats with 13 kills, 15 digs and 11 points in a 15-3, 15-13, 15-9 victory in the MVAL. Kristine Porac had 15 assists and 11 digs for Williamsport while Meghan Foley had 13 assists and 10 points for the Wildcats (4-0, 2-0).

Boonsboro 3, South 2

BOONSBORO - Mandy Binder had 18 kills, 15 assists, 13 digs and 13 points as the Warriors rallied from a two-game deficit for a 15-17, 8-15, 15-5, 15-11, 15-6 win in the MVAL.

Katie Ambrose had 17 kills, 17 digs and 11 points and Leah Easterday had 12 kills, 11 points and 27 assists for Boonsboro (3-3, 2-1). Allison Wine led the Rebels with 25 kills and 12 points and Ashley Reeder had 13 kills for South (2-4, 1-1).

JV: Boonsboro, 15-12, 6-15, 15-12.

North 3, Walkersville 0

WALKERSVILLE, Md. - Nicole Morgan's 14 assists, five kills and three aces led the Hubs to a 15-6, 15-3, 15-6 victory in the MVAL. Lauren Anderson and Katy Stamper each had four kills for North (3-2, 1-1).

JV: North, 2-0.

Hedgesville 3, Berkeley Springs 0

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Tracey Regalbuto had 11 service points and 24 assists as No. 7 Hedgesville posted a 15-1, 15-6, 15-6 victory in the Apple Valley League. Jen Merica added 10 service points for the Eagles (12-1, 4-0).

Musselman 3, Goretti 1

Musselman (2-4, 2-4) swept the season series from the Gaels with a 15-9, 10-15, 15-4, 15-10 win in the AVL. Brett Stone had 10 kills and Kelly Wills had 16 assists for Goretti (0-8, 0-5).

McConnellsburg 2, N. Bedford 0

LOYSBURG, Pa. - Niki Chestnut has six service points and 17 assists and Kyla Seville added seven kills and six blocks to keep the No. 5 Spartans (7-0, 5-0) undefeated with a 15-1, 15-3 win in the Sideling Hill League.

Greencastle 2, Fairfield 0

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Megan Beam had 12 service points, four aces and four kills to lead the No. 8 Blue Devils to a 15-8, 15-8 win. Kathy Kershner had 14 assists for Greencastle (6-0).

Frederick 3, South Carroll 1

SYKESVILLE, Md. - Behind 10 blocks apiece from Ashley Bush and Syndey King, Frederick picked up its first win of the season, defeating South Carroll, 15-6, 15-6, 6-15, 15-9. Crystal Tharp added 21 service points for the Cadets (1-5).

JV: South Carroll, 15-4, 15-8.

Highland View 6, Faith 1

Highland View improved to 3-2-2 as they defeated Faith. Doug Gadz and Bobby Bedigo each had one goal while Stepehn Byrkit and Eduardo Bollati each scored twice. Faith's goal was scored by Jason Miy.

Goretti 2, St. John's-PH 1

FREDERICK, Md. - Ben Hood scored twice to lead Goretti. Hood's second goal came on a penalty kick. Tyler Weneck had four saves for Goretti.

Waynesboro 4, Fairfield 3

FAIRFIELD, Pa. - John Webber had two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to lead Waynesboro. Webber also had an assist and Zach Tanner and Phil Woodring each scored once for Waynesboro. Phil Woodring, Shawn Kipe and John Onikepet each had assists for Waynesboro (3-5).

Chambersburg 6, JB 0

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Chris Bouschell scored twice and Nathan Wingert had three assists to lead Chambersburg (7-3). Also scoring for Chambersburg were Ruchard Collier, Drew Wellman and Mark Olson.

Hedgesville 3, Jefferson 1

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Patrick Miller had two goals for the Eagles while Richie Hockensmith had one goal. Freshman goalkeeper Travus Hines had five saves for the Eagles.

Boonsboro 2, Williamsport 2

BOONSBORO - Allison Fries scored with an assist from Ashley Gossard and Krista Hurley scored unassisted for Boonsboro (1-3-1, 1-1-1) while Skyler Sanders and Brooke Weimer scored unassisted goals for Williamsport (2-1-1, 0-1-1) as the teams settled for a double overtime tie.

Goretti 4, Hedgesville 0

Bobbie Johnson had a goal and an assist as No. 3 St. Maria Goretti used a late burst in the first half to stay perfect in the Apple Valley League.

Marrett Diamond scored from Johnson and Erin Ryan scored off an assist from Valerie Cushwa in a two-minute span to give Goretti (7-0-1, 5-0) a 3-0 lead at the break. Meggan McGill scored early for the Gaels and Johnson closed the scoring in the second half. Janet McCullough had five saves to get the shutout.

Madeira 5, St. James 1
