Roundup - Wildcats pound Smithsburg, 6-1

SMITHSBURG - Carlos Gomez had two goals and an assist to lead Williamsport to a 6-1 win over Smithsburg in the Monocacy Valley Athletic League on Wednesday.

Pete Swacina, Todd Knepper, Eric Fitzgerald and Ben Giles each had a goal for the Wildcats (5-1, 3-0). Jason Knicely had an assist.

Steve Gyurisin scored the only goal for Smithsburg (0-5, 0-1).

Carlisle 3, Waynesboro 0

WAYNEBORO, Pa. - Dave Pullman had a goal and an assist as Carlisle beat Waynesboro in a Mid Penn Commonwealth match.

James Woodring and Chris Gilliland combined for 18 saves for the Indians (2-5, 0-3).

South 1, Brunswick 0

Emmens Rho scored off an assist from Sharew Hailu as South Hagerstown got its first win of the season.

Scott Barish made five saves to record the shutout for the Rebels (1-4, 1-2).

Brunswick falls to 0-4, 0-2.

Chambersburg 4, Gettysburg 3

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Nathan Wingerd scored a pair of goals to lead Chambersburg to a win over Gettysburg.

Kevin Roland had a goal and an assist and Mark Olson had one goal for the Trojans (6-3). Jeff Boushell had two assists and Ryan Richards had one.

Andy Ivin gave the Vikings (0-3-1) the lead, but Fabricio Kos tied the game with 20 minutes to play to give the Tartans (2-2-2) the draw.

IJAMSVILLE, Md. - Erin Maldo had 21 points - including 12 straight in Game 2 - and seven digs as the No. 6 Patriots stayed perfect with a 11-15, 15-11, 15-2, 15-10 road win in the CMC. TJ trailed 9-0 in Game 2 before Maldo made her run from the service line. Emily Hauver had 12 points and four kills and Kristen Palm added nine points and eight kills for the Patriots (5-0, 5-0).

Mercersburg 3, Berkeley Springs 0

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Juanita Beasley and June Marquiss both had eight kills and Beasley added four blocks to lead the Blue Storm to a 15-6, 15-13, 15-12 victory. Alison Cornelius added nine assists, Lauren McCartney had seven assists and Shelane Jorgenson had 12 points for Mercersburg (4-1). JV: Berkeley Springs, 2-1.

FSK 3, Middletown 0

UNION BRIDGE, Md. - Francis Scott Key improved to 4-0 with a 15-4, 15-9, 15-1 sweep of Middletown.

The Knights fall to 2-2. JV: FSK, 2-0.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Seiji Hirai shot a 39 at Cacapon State Park to lead Smithsburg. Ashley Grier and Steve Young each shot 41 and Clarke Grumbine had a 48 for Smithsburg (6-9).

Steve Potter shot a 43 for Berkeley Springs. Jimmy Nigh had a 48 for Beall.

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Sam Wolfe and Heather Shank got goals to lead the Blue Devils to a victory. Whitney Groseclose scored on an assist from Camilla Lancaster for Mercersburg.
