Police report city woman assaulted at underpass site

A 46-year-old Hagerstown woman was sexually assaulted Monday night under the Burhans Boulevard underpass south of County Market, according to Hagerstown City Police.

The woman had gone to the Union Rescue Mission on North Prospect Street for food for her family and accepted an offer from a man to carry her groceries home, police said.

The two ended up drinking and went under the underpass, where the woman was sexually assaulted around 9 p.m., police said.

The woman flagged down a van, whose driver took her to County Market where she called police, police said.

The man was described as a tall, thin white male with black hair and a black beard, police said.

Numbers sprayed at North Hagerstown parking area

Black numbers were spray-painted along the parking spaces in the student parking lot at North Hagerstown High School, Hagerstown City Police said.


The damage was reported Monday.

Tupperware containing money taken, police say

A Tupperware container containing $70 in cash was reported stolen Monday from the front seat of a taxicab, according to Hagerstown City Police.

The cab driver left the car unlocked while inside the Sheetz convenience store at 301 E. Washington St., police said.

A car stereo was stolen from a car parked at Massey Auto Body and another car's passenger side window was broken, Hagerstown City Police said.

The car stereo was valued at $280, police said.

The theft occurred between Sept. 17 and 18 at 30 E. Baltimore St., police said.

Police didn't know if anything had been stolen from the car with the broken window.

Trimmer, grinders taken from Jefferson Boulevard

The following crimes were reported Monday to the Washington County Sheriff's Department:

- A weed trimmer and two stone grinders worth $600 were reported stolen at 9:35 a.m. Monday from a home in the 20000 block of Jefferson Boulevard as the residents were in the process of moving.

- A Honda Model 3500 generator and a steel pipe saw worth $1,700 were reported stolen at 10 a.m. Monday from a C.W. Hetzer construction trailer at Halfway Boulevard and Interstate 81.

- A 1996 Chevy Lumina parked in the 17500 block of Lexington Avenue in Halfway was reported keyed around 4 p.m. Monday.

Tools taken from Shippensburg site

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Tools were taken from a construction site in Southampton Township between 5:30 p.m. Monday and 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Police said the tools were stolen from a utility trailer belonging to G.O. Builders Inc. of Shippensburg. The locked trailer was broken into at a lot on Stone Wall Road.

Minor injuries reported following Pa. accident

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - One person had minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident in Quincy Township, Pa., Tuesday morning, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Police alleged the accident happened at 9:06 a.m. when a westbound pickup driven by Ryan Kline, 19, of Waynesboro, crossed the center line on a curve and collided with a car driven by Ronald Sisto, 58, of Fayetteville, Pa.

Police said Sisto had minor injuries, but his two passengers and Kline were unhurt.
