A Home Depot workshop will be held at Hagerstown Neighborhood Housing Services, 451 Salem Ave., Thursday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m.

John Hogan of Home Depot in Hagerstown will give a general workshop about home repairs. If you have specific questions, he will help to find the answers.

The event is free, but space is limited, so contact the HNHS office in advance to reserve a seat by calling 301-797-3310 or sending a fax to 301-797-6654.




The Village at Robinwood will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Hagerstown across from the Robinwood Medical Center.

The retirement community features an assisted living program, Alzheimer's care program, and independent living cottages.




The quarterly meeting of the Western Maryland Resource Conservation and Development Council will be held Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center, 7303 Sharpsburg Pike.

Committee meetings will begin at 10 a.m., followed by luncheon at 11:30 a.m. A full council meeting will be held from 12:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Cost of the meal is $6.

Reservations must be phoned in to the council office at 301-733-2973 by Thursday, Sept. 21.




The Washington County Sheriff's Office is taking applications for the Sheriff's Citizens Law Enforcement Awareness program.

The class will begin Oct. 10 and will run for five weeks on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Graduation will be Nov. 9.

Participants must be at least 21 years old and have no criminal history.
