Man jailed after two people hit with car



MARTINSBURG, W. Va. - One man was in the Eastern Regional Jail Monday night after a Sunday incident in which two people were struck by his car, the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department said.

Richard Keith Darden, 34, 1206 W. Virginia St., was charged Sunday with unlawful wounding, driving under the influence of alcohol and having no valid operator's license.

The penalty for an unlawful wounding conviction is one to five years in prison or one year in jail and up to a $500 fine.

He was fighting with two other men when he got into his car and hit them, according to Berkeley County Sheriff's Department documents filed with county Magistrate Court.

Bail for Darden has been set at $3,274.
