Sunday roundup - Greencastle reachs tournament quarterfinals



SUSQUEHANNA, Pa. - Greencastle-Antrim finished with a 4-5 record to reach the quarterfinals this weekend in the Susquehanna Volleyball Tournament.

Greencastle was eliminated from the run for a title in a 15-7 loss to Canton.

Amy Eshelman (nine service points, seven kills, 21 digs) and Kathy Kershner (14 service points, 90 assists and nine digs) led Greencastle in the tournament.

Megan Beam (nine service points, six kills, four blocks and 10 digs) and Tonia Petersheim (five service points, 12 kills, 11 blocks and 11 digs) added to the Blue Devils' effort.

Mercersburg 3, Blair 0

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Fraley Coles, Christina Sgagias and Katie Morgan all scored goals to lead the Blue Storm to their first win of the season.

Mercersburg (1-1) outshot Blair 16-10, and Melanie Johnson had nine saves for the shutout.

Braddock/Sub Shop advances

AIKEN, S.C. - Braddock Motors/Sub Shop, based in Frederick, Md., went 4-2 in the NSA Class B World Series to qualify for the Super B World Series in St. Louis on Oct. 14-16.

Jeff Reynolds, Barry Boone, Mick Byers and Billy Bakner each batted over .700 and were elected to the tournament's first team.

The team continues its 10-day trip and will play the ASA Nationals beginning Friday.
