Mobile home fire fought at Rohrersville

ROHRERSVILLE - Firefighters from the First Hose Co. of Boonsboro and the Rohrersville Substation were called Monday afternoon to fight a fire at a mobile home on Mount Carmel Church Road.

Boonsboro Captain Jay Brandenburg said the 4:30 p.m. fire caused minimal damage to the home in the 5000 block of Mount Carmel Church Road.

Firefighters were at the scene for about two hours, he said.

The fire was detected by a resident who came home and discovered smoke. The resident called 911 and then fled the home.

Pa. man charged with drug possession

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Shippensburg, Pa., man was charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana following a police pursuit that began in Chambersburg Saturday night, according to Chambersburg police.


Police said Ronald R. Richardson Jr., 31, of 23 Spring St., also was charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and other criminal and traffic violations in an incident that began when a patrolman tried to make a traffic stop at 11 p.m.

The report said the driver of the vehicle failed to stop and drove north on South Main Street in the wrong direction on the one-way street, putting other drivers at risk.

The pursuit continued onto Philadelphia Avenue where the driver ran red lights before losing control of the car and crashing on the campus of Wilson College, near a group of students, police said.

The driver fled on foot and police were assisted by Pennsylvania State Police and a borough K-9 unit. A man was taken into custody in the area of the 200 block of Siloam Road, about three-quarters of a mile from where the car crashed.

When Richardson was apprehended, police allege he had a large amount of marijuana with him in a backpack.

Man charged with probation violations in South Carolina

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Chambersburg man was taken into custody Friday morning after it was discovered during a Friday morning traffic stop that he was wanted for probation violations in South Carolina, according to a borough police report.

Eric I. Bennett, 29, of 50 Ludwig Ave., was in Franklin County Prison Monday. He was in a vehicle that was stopped by police at about 3:30 a.m. on the 500 block of Broad Street, police said.

According to the report, Bennett was wanted in South Carolina for probation violations on charges of assault with intent to kill, aggravated assault, simple assault and resisting arrest.

Chambersburg man charged with burglary

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A 20-year-old man was charged with burglary after he was spotted inside a downtown business Sunday morning, according to a Chambersburg police report.

Manuel M. Rodriques, no fixed address, was also charged with loitering and prowling, criminal mischief and public drunkenness, the report said.

An officer spotted a man in the doorway of the Animal Shelter Thrift Shop at 72 S. Main St. shortly before 6 a.m., police said.

The man was chased through the building and apprehended on the roof, police said.

Lurgan Township residence is burglarized, police report

ORRSTOWN, Pa. - A Lurgan Township man's home was burglarized Sunday, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

A police report said jewelry, coins and weapons were stolen from the Lurgan Road home of Michael Allen Dubbs. Police said the house was entered between 11:45 a.m. and 3:15 p.m.

County deputies report theft from parked vehicle

The Washington County Sheriff's Department reported the following:

- A compact disc player and compact discs were stolen from a 1988 Toyota Corolla parked in the 11200 block of Lakeside Drive Sunday.

- The front windshield of a Chevy Cavalier in the first block of East Cemetery Street in Funkstown was reported damaged Sunday.
