Margaret K. Butler

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Margaret K. Butler, 88, of 423 W. Catherine St., died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Feb. 10, 1912, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late James and Annie Bailey Brown.

Her husband, Edward Butler, preceded her in death.

She was a cook at Penn Hall School for Girls in Chambersburg, Vandraugh Tea Room and Shook Home.

She was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church.

She volunteered with Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by one daughter, Annis L. Smiley of Chambersburg; one brother, Gerald Brown of Harrisburg, Pa.; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one daughter and one son.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, 230 Mount Moriah St., Chambersburg. The Rev. G. Nathan Bell will officiate. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery in Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.




Mabel Taylor

ALMEDIA, Pa. - Mabel Taylor, 92, of 4010 Old Berwick Road, and formerly of Buckhorn, Pa., died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at Bloomsburg Health Care Center.

Born Jan. 22, 1908, in Leitersburg, she was the daughter of the late Elmer E. and Cora S. Corderman Durbin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl R. Taylor, in 1995.

She attended Leitersburg schools.

She was a member of First Church of Christ in Bloomsburg.

She is survived by a daughter, Martha Snyder of Almedia; a son, E. Dayne Taylor of Phoenix; four sisters, Ruth Shank of Hagerstown, Nancy Starliper of Fairview, Md., Betty Dormer of Hagerstown and Margaret Gearhart of Hagerstown; a brother, Harold Durbin of Hagerstown; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Zeck; three sisters, Louise Durbin, Ethel Swartz and Pearl Sigler; two brothers, Roy Durbin and Oscar Durbin; and a granddaughter.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market St. in Bloomsburg. Pastor David J. Smith, will officiate. Burial will be in Elan Memorial Park in Lime Ridge, Pa.

The family will receive friends Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Scott D. Buchanan

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - There will be no public viewing for Scott D. Buchanan, 38, of 13604 Grant Shook Road, who died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000; however, the family will receive friends today from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Charles W. Waleski

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Charles William Waleski, 62, of Shepherdstown, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, at his home.

Born May 6, 1938, in Jersey City, N.J., he was the son of the late Charles and Anne Helen Gaydos Waleski.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Yi-How Ann Liu Waleski.

He was a 1955 graduate of Bayonne (N.J.) High School.

He retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of staff sergeant after serving 31 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War; and served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1971 with the 173rd Airborne Rangers and 75th Recon Rangers. He was awarded the National Defense Service Metal and two Silver Stars for Vietnam Service.

He was of the Catholic faith.

He was a member of Polish Legion of American Veterans Post 191; Frances Scott Key Post 11 American Legion; Disabled American Veterans; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 385; and Coalition for Retired Military Veterans 900.

He is survived by two daughters, Terry-Ann Negron of Bayonne and Sandy Murphy of Shepherdstown; a son, Mason Waleski of Shepherdstown; two sisters; and a granddaughter.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg, W.Va. The Rev. Matthew T. Rowgh will officiate.

Burial with military honors will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Arlington National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




J. Robert Earley

J. Robert Earley, 72, of Columbia Road, Hagerstown, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Haven Lutheran Church parlor room, 1035 Haven Road in Hagerstown, where the Fraternal Order of Police will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m.




Frederick R. Wilson

HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Frederick Raymond Wilson, 70, of Harpers Ferry, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at his home.

Born Jan. 21, 2000, in Davisburg, Ky., he was the son of the late Rev. John James Wilson Sr. and Pearl Bertha Cinnamon Wilson.

He retired from the Jefferson County Board of Education, where he worked as a custodian.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was of the Pentecostal faith.
