Mail Call 9/11

"Hey, me and my girlfriend are big fans of Dr. J., a local DJ. Does anyone know where he's playing at these days. He was suppose to be back at his old hangout last weekend but he was a no-show. What gives and where's he at? If anyone knows call into Mail Call and let us know. He sure let his followers who were looking forward to a good time down. Thanks."

"Hi. I'd like to have some zucchini if anyone has some that they would like to get rid of. Put your phone number in the paper and I'll give you a call. Thank you."

"Congratulations to Mike Kershner for winning Hagerstown Speedway's 4-Cyclinder Track Championship for the year 2000. And happy anniversary. Love you, your wife Shirley."

"Doug Hill formerly of Channel 9 weather and Oldies 100 in Washington, D.C., has gone to WJLA in Washington and will be appearing on that station later this year."

"Yes, here we go again and it's only the second week of school and it's blah, blah, blah on the school bus drivers again. People, we need bus drivers so if you want to go in there and do the job, let's see you do it. Otherwise, keep your mouths shut!"

"Hello. I'd like to know who's bad idea it was to put the Sports section in the A section of the Daily Mail and the Morning Herald? I'd like to know where just one other newspaper in the United States that has the Sports section in the A section."

"I'm calling in answer to all those people who wants to know what happened to Doug Hill on Channel 9. Some people told me that he left the station 3 months ago to pursue other interests. So he'll no longer be there."

"The recipe for Poor Man Crabcakes that was printed in the paper last week according to mine is missing one main ingredient which is one 7 ounce can of white tuna packed in water. Drain it and add it to the other recipes that was in the paper. Thank you."

"I would like to endorse Mayor Bruchey's proposal to put a restriction on cruising in the downtown area. Not only is Franklin Street hazardous but dozens if not hundreds of drivers drive through the parking lot in the middle of the block on E. Franklin Street behind the Washington County Playhouse. Unfortunately, lots and lots of people park there for evening activities in the downtown area. Cruisers who literally roar though that parking lot make it very dangerous for everyone concerned. I heartily endorse any policy that would prevent people from driving through that parking lot."

"How naive can the police chief of Hagerstown be" Two people from New York were shot in the area of Jonathan Street and he says he doesn't know why they were shot or if drugs were involved. It doesn't take a brain scientist to figure that one out. When is the police chief gonna wake up and realize there is a drug problem in the Jonathan Street area?"

"Hi Mail Call. My car was stranded up at Sheetz on Virginia Avenue on Wednesday morning around 6 o'clock and I needed a way home. Some fellow in a pickup truck was very kind enough to take me home. He was very nice about it and I wanted to thank him again an awful lot cause he really helped me out. Thank you very much."

"I'd like to know the name of the idiot that designed the traffic pattern at the new Wal-Mart Shopping Center. The people coming up Route 40 West in the right lane says all traffic in the right must turn right. There's no signs, no merge, no yield and no stop sign, no nothing. When the people come up there they just keep on going. There should be a sign there. I've almost had 2 accidents there and if the third one happens I'm going to give somebody a lot of you know what. I hope there's other people that feels the same way and something gets done about it."

"I see where some state correctional officers donated their free time to keep the inmates happy down at MCI. I'm wondering if these same state correctional officers do anything like that for their community such as nursing homes, hospitals or whatever else?"

"I'm not a big fan of Judge Boone but I see in the paper on Friday, Sept. 8, where a man was freed after being in jail for 5 days by mistake due to Judge Boone. Well, hell that's nothing. My wife got worse than that guy for a DUI charge. She paid the ultimate price and this guy, he looks like he's got a terrible record. So if I was Boone I wouldn't feed bad at all. I'd feel good. I'm getting tired of everybody having the benefit of the doubt. When innocent people make a little mistake, they really get punished.
