W.Va. businessman shot at residence

PIKESIDE, W.Va. - The Berkeley County Sheriff's Department is investigating the early Monday shooting of a Pikeside businessman who was shot in the chest with a shotgun while he was leaving his residence, according to Capt. Kenneth Lemaster who is heading up the investigation.

The victim is identified as Brian Frazee, 43, owner of Woody's Market at 163 Pikeside St. He was shot once in the chest by an unknown assailant, Lemaster said.

Frazee was listed in fair condition Monday night at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Va., where he is being treated.

Lemaster said Frazee was on his way to his store around 1 a.m. when he was shot. Lemaster said Frazee fired back at his assailant with a handgun, but he said he doesn't know if the other person was hit.

Lemaster said police have not determined a motive for the shooting. "It may be robbery. We're running down some leads today," he said.
