Man in custody after Frederick stop


FREDERICK, Md. - A man driving a vehicle with Maryland tags allegedly stolen from Washington County was in custody following a traffic accident on Jefferson Pike Sunday afternoon, Maryland State Police said.

Police said John Thomas Jones, no address available, was involved in a two-vehicle accident on Jefferson Pike at 2:45 p.m. Police said officers noticed that a man appeared to be intoxicated and the officers attempted to place him under arrest.

The man fought police and was sprayed by police with pepper spray, police said.

Jones was charged with driving while intoxicated, theft of license tags, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia as well as other traffic offenses.

He was being held pending a bond hearing.

A check through the Maryland Department of Motor Vehicles showed the tags on the vehicle were stolen from Washington County.

When police searched the vehicle they found a small baggy of marijuana in an ashtray, police said.

Stolen vehicle recovered in Pa.


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police said a stolen vehicle was recovered Thursday along New Franklin Road in Guilford Township.

The report said police resonded to a report of an abandoned vehicle at 9 a.m. The 1991 Chevy Blazer, found two miles west of Pa. 997, had previously been reported stolen in Mercersburg, Pa., police said.
