Bonnie L. Bowman

Bonnie Lee Bowman, 50, of Hagerstown, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at her home.

Born Feb. 4, 1950, in Meyersdale, Pa., she was the daughter of Cleda L. Folk Baker of Grantsville, Md. and the late Allen C. Baker.

She received a master's degree in Business Education from Frostburg State University.

She was employed in the retail industry as a manager for Finlay Fine Jewelry in New York; Best Products in Virginia; and Bon Ton Department Stores in Pennsylvania. She also was an aerobic instructor in Cumberland, Md.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church MS in The Cove, Md.; and a member of Concordia Lutheran Church MS in Hagerstown.


She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority; and was active with American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Terry L. Bowman of Hagerstown; a daughter, Tara L. Ellis of Hagerstown; a son, William T. Bowman of Baltimore; three brothers, James Baker of Finzel, Md., David Baker of Berlin, Pa. and Ronald Baker of Shrewsbury, Pa.; nieces and nephews.

Services will be Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church, 17906 Garden Lane in Hagerstown. The Rev. William R. Burgett will officiate.

Burial will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery in Cumberland.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North in Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to Relay for Life or Cancer Research at American Cancer Society, Washington County Unit, 1307 Haven Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742.

Edgar H. Sipes

McConnellsburg, Pa. - Edgar Harold Sipes, 62, of McConnellsburg, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Chambersburg, Pa.

Born Nov. 28, 1937, in McConnellsburg, Pa., he was the son of Hettie Hess Sipes of Hagerstown and the late Baltzer Riley Sipes.

He retired from Grove Worldwide in Greencastle, Pa.

He was a Protestant.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Rose Stoddard Sipes, whom he married Aug. 6, 1959; two daughters, Sherri Meyers of York, Pa. and Tammy Brauser of Baltimore; two sons, Bryan Sipes of Warfordsburg, Pa. and Craig Sipes of Ohio; three sisters, Hilda Mae Hill of McConnellsburg, Dorcas Souders of Hagerstown and Ruby Dawson of Ohio; four brothers, Willis Sipes, Jim Sipes and Norris Sipes, all of McConnellsburg and Marvin Sipes of Hustontown, Pa.; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son and two brothers.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Cemetery in Harrisonville, Pa. The Rev. Willis Swope will officiate.

Louis J. Gillinger Jr.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Louis Joseph Gillinger Jr., 95, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.

Born Jan. 26, 1905, in Foldeack, Hungary, he was the son of the late Louis Gillinger Sr. and Mary Victoria Szuch Gillinger.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Johnson Gillinger.

He retired from Blair Limestone Quarry as a blacksmith.

He was a member of Eagle Chapel.

He was a member of Martinsburg Lodge 120 Loyal Order of the Moose.

He is survived by three daughters, Sarah Shell and Anne Louise Pickering, both of Martinsburg and Arabella Beatty of Conroe, Texas; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three sons, Bernard Charles Gillinger, William L. Gillinger and Melvin D. Gillinger; four sisters, Mary Toth, Anna Tafarella, Helen Dunham and Margaret Ryan; and a brother, Geza Gillinger.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. The Revs. Brian Shoda and Jerry Mead will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ronald G. Bowers

Ronald G. Bowers, 63, of 11008 Palmwood Circle, Hagerstown, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Aug. 20, 1937, in Boston, he was the son of the late Isadore and Rose Lillian Schneider Bowers.

He was employed as a probation officer with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Probation Department, retiring in 1993.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corp.

He was a member of Congregation B'Nai Abraham.

He was a member of Marshfield, Mass. Lodge 2494 BPO Elks; Sharon, Mass. Masonic Lodge; and Commonwealth of Massachusetts Retired Employees.
