Houston silences Bats in 4-1 victory
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Ryan Houston allowed just two hits in eight innings and the Hagerstown Suns showed some rare power with two home runs in one game to defeat the Greensboro Bats 4-1 Tuesday night in the South Atlantic League.
Houston (4-1) allowed no runs and struck out eight as the Suns (27-34, 61-70) broke a two-game losing streak.
They took the lead in the third off John Kremer. With two outs, Dwayne Pugh singled and came home when left fielder Dusty Rhodes misplayed Shannon Carter's fly to left into a triple for a 1-0 lead.
Hagerstown padded its lead on solo homers by Kevin Cash in the fourth - his second in two days - and Juan Santos in the seventh before Shawn Fagan scored on Kurt Keene's single in the eighth.
