City man killed in wreck



WILLIAMSPORT - A Hagerstown man was killed early Sunday when his car struck a tree and and the tree split in two off Interstate 81 near Williamsport, according to Maryland State Police in Hagerstown.

Adriano Antonio Liz, 24, of 303 Beaver Creek Rd., was traveling alone southbound on I-81 at about 2:30 a.m. when his 1996 Honda Civic ran into the left shoulder, returned to the roadway and crossed both southbound lanes, ran into the right shoulder, overturned, and struck a tree on the driver's side, police said.

The vehicle was severed in half, with the front end traveling 30 yards beyond the portion of the car that struck the tree, police said.

Liz, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.
