Pa. man charged with simple assault

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Mitchell C. Broadway, 34, Waynesboro, was charged with simple assault and harassment after a domestic violence incident Friday that injured a Waynesboro woman, according to Pennsylvania State Police in Chambersburg.

A man awoke and began yelling at a 46-year-old woman at about midnight, police said.

The man slapped the woman in the face, punched her several times in the chest and back, ripped her shirt off, and kicked her, police said.

The man threw the woman through the front door and onto the porch, where she was cut by glass from the door panel that the abuser had broken earlier in the day, police said.

The woman ran to a neighbor's home, police said.

Three in Frederick charged with drugs

FREDERICK, Md. - Three Frederick residents were facing drug charges Sunday after being netted in sting operations Saturday night, according to the Frederick Police Department.


Kani Alexander, 21, of 160 Willowdale Dr., was charged with distribution of crack cocaine, possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine and possession of crack cocaine, police said.

Alexander, who was targeted by the Drug Enforcement Unit in the 100 block of South Market Street, was being held on $60,000 bond Sunday at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center, police said.

Robert Dale Crampton, 38, and Nancy Carolyn Borum, age unknown, both of the 1400 block of Key Parkway, were charged with possession of a non-controlled dangerous substance, police said.

Crampton and Borum were charged following a Drug Enforcement Unit sting at the Windsor Garden Apartment Complex. The reversal operation was aimed at individuals who purchase controlled dangerous substances, police said.

Crampton and Borum were released on personal recognizance, police said.

Chambersburg man charged with DUI

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Chambersburg man was charged with driving under the influence after his vehicle crashed into a stone pile off Grindstone Hill Road in Antrim Township on Friday, according to Pennsylvania State Police in Chambersburg.

Richard E. Cowan, 46, of 364 Briar Lane, was traveling north on Grindstone Hill Road at about 6:30 p.m. when his vehicle left the east berm and struck a stone pile, police said.

Cowan was not wearing a seat belt and sustained minor injuries in the one-car accident, police said.

Needmore man charged with DUI

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A man was charged with driving under the influence Thursday, Pennsylvania State Police said. The man was observed driving carelessly at a high rate of speed on state Route 70 near the 168 mile marker, police said.

The incident occurred at 8:08 p.m., police said.

Police identified the man charged as Richard William Trail, 45, of Needmore, Pa.

Amplifier stolen, Pa. police report

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Someone entered a car at 5384 Gloss Road and stole a gray and purple amplifier, Pennsylvania State Police reported.

The theft occurred sometime between Thursday and Friday.
