John R. Carbaugh

NEEDMORE, Pa. - John R. Carbaugh, 61, of Needmore, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, at Fulton County Medical Center.

Born Nov. 12, 1938, in McConnellsburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Clara Smith.

He was an equipment operator for Penn Dot.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Buterbaugh Carbaugh; two sons, John C. Carbaugh of Big Cove Tannery, Pa., and James D. Carbaugh of Needmore; a sister, Mary Buterbaugh of McConnellsburg; two brothers, George Smith and Loyd Smith Jr., both of McConnellsburg, Pa.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. Second St. in McConnellsburg. The Rev. Donald Bard will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by Fulton County Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at 2 p.m. for the convenience of friends. Visitation also will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.




Rebecca C. Munson

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Rebecca C. Munson, 67, of 4549 Fort Loudon Road, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, at her home.

Born Dec. 3, 1932, in Chambersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late M. Sophie Miller.

She was employed by Fairchild Industries in Hagerstown. Later, she was employed by Tuscarora School District of Mercersburg for 34 years, the last 23 years as the principal's secretary.

She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mercersburg and was a former church secretary.

She was a member of Fulton Chapter 519 Eastern Star of McConnellsburg, Pa.

She is survived by her husband, Guy L. Munson, whom she married May 29, 1952; two sons, David G. Munson of Chambersburg and Timothy R. Munson of Mercersburg; a sister, Martha Jane Snyder of Mercersburg; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8 Linden Ave. in Mercersburg. The Rev. Michael R. Brendle will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Mercersburg.

It was her request to have no viewing.

The family will receive friends Monday at 10 a.m. at the church.

Arrangements are by Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg.




Louise C. Wagaman

Louise Catherine Hoffman Garnand Wagaman, 90, of 19811 Evelyn Avenue, Hagerstown, died Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, at her home.

Born April 7, 1910, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Nancy Ellen Bowman Hoffman.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Russell Garnand, and her second husband, Samuel Wagaman.

She was employed by Huyetts Bakery.

She is survived by a daughter, Doris Teter of Hagerstown; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.

Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert C. Lehman will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Amos P. Tobin Sr.

BERKELEY STATION, W.Va. - Amos P. "Amo" Tobin Sr., 66, of Berkeley Station, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Sept. 19, 1933, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Samuel L. and Fanny E. Triggs Tobin.

He was employed by Fairstone Orchard, National Fruit Products and B&O and CSX Railroads.

He attended Berkeley Station Church.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Ramsburg Tobin; three daughters, Myrtle M. Tobin of Martinsburg, Rebecca K. Emmons of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Daisy M. Melchor of Charles Town, W.Va.; three sons, Amos P. Tobin Jr. of Martinsburg, Michael F. Tobin of Berryville, Va., and Edwin L. Tobin of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; a sister, Ida Mason of Cherry Run, W.Va.; 14 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Tobin; two sisters, Fannie June Mauck and Agnes Milburn; three brothers, George Tobin, John Tonin and Jim Tobin; and a grandchild.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. The Revs. Robert Maraugha and Tom Blake will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Peter J. Bartuch

MIDDLEWAY, W.Va. - Peter Joseph Bartuch, 84, of Middleway, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, at his home.

Born Jan. 23, 1916, in Thompson II Fayette County, Pa., he was the son of the late Joseph and Dominica DeSimone Bartuch.

He was a 1934 graduate of Masontown (Pa.) High School.

He retired in 1978, as an accountant, from Hamilton Standard Corporation, a division of United Technologies.

He was a Catholic.

He was a member of United Mine Workers Union; Grays Landing, Pa., Local 6312; and Robenia, Pa., Local 6321.

He served as a school director and secretary-treasurer at Albert Gallatin High School in Point Marion, Pa.
