The Braguniers

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bragunier Sr. celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sunday, July 23, 2000, with their family at Fireside Restaurant in Hagerstown. Flowers were placed in the Broadfording Church of the Brethren Fellowship in their honor. The Braguniers are members of the church. Hymns sung during the morning worship service were some of the couple's favorites.

The Braguniers were married July 20, 1940, at Hagerstown Church of God by the Rev. C. W. Fink, now deceased.

Mrs. Bragunier is the former Thelma Rowland, daughter of the late Amos and Minnie Rowland. She is a homemaker.

Mr. Bragunier retired in 1983 from the Department of Natural Resources, where he was a conservationist. He is the son of the late Frank and Martha Bragunier.

Their children and spouses are Donald and Charlene Bragunier, Clarence Jr. and Bonnie Bragunier, and Tom and Donna Tedrick, all of Clear Spring, and Shirley Miller of Greencastle, Pa.


The Braguniers have 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The Moatses

Fred A. and Maxine (Deneen) Moats of Hancock celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a family gathering and dinner Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000.

The event, held at Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren fellowship hall, was hosted by their four children, Anita Morris, Roberta Martin, Linda Martin and Keith Moats, and their families. A memory book containing cards and greetings from extended family and friends was presented at dinner.

The Moatses were married Aug. 2, 1950, in Cumberland, Md.

Mrs. Moats is a homemaker and is involved in church ministries.

Mr. Moats retired from Dave's Wholesale of Hagerstown.

They have 10 grandchildren.

The Cogans

Alan and Minkey Cogan celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000.

The Cogans were married by the Rev. Frederick Eyster, now deceased, at Christ's Reformed Church in Hagerstown. They renewed their vows there with the Rev. Ginny Brown Daniel officiating.

Earlier in the year, the Cogans celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on a Caribbean cruise with their children and spouses, Debra and Dale Gingrich and Mark and Jerilyn Cogan, and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Cogan is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Roy Baughman of Hagerstown. She has been a fulltime homemaker.

Mr. Cogan is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Chester Cogan of Everett, Pa. He is co-owner and vicepresident of Casting Technologies Inc. in Waynesboro, Pa.

The McCrays

Mr. and Mrs. John R. McCray celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, with family and friends at a buffet dinner in their honor at Venice Inn in Hagerstown. The event was hosted by their seven children, Evelyn Lockhart, Janice Barnes, Vivian Ferguson, Pam Carey, John R. McCray Jr., Bevelyn Armstrong and Lisa McCray.

The McCrays were married by the Rev. C.L. Ponder of Friendship Baptist Church in Bridgeport, Ga.

They have 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The Shiflers

Ann and Jim Shifler celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Saturday, July 29, 2000, at a luncheon at Boonsboro American Legion.

More than 140 friends and family, from as far away as Tennessee, Florida, California and England, attended the celebration, hosted by the Shiflers' families.
