Cougars blast Musselman, 8-0

INWOOD, W.Va. - Erin Bradley had a goal and three assists - two to freshman Amy Warnick - as the Cougars opened their season with an 8-0 win over Musselman on Wednesday.

Courtney McCauley opened the scoring off a pass from Jenniffer Russell in the sixth minute. Russell later added two goals off assists from Lindsay Edwards and Bradley.

Ellen Brosh and Zade Zagarella also scored for Jefferson, which outshot Musselman (1-1), 46-2.

Five-team scrimmage

South Hagerstown High School will host a five-team football scrimmage and three amateur baseball games on Saturday, Sept. 2.

The scrimmages will begin at 10 a.m., with the baseball games scheduled to start at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 4 p.m.

Admission to all events is free. Proceeds from concession sales will benefit South Hagerstown athletics.

Hub City/Pinesburg Softball

Freddie's 9, Lenox 8: Troy Sipes had the game-winning hit to lead Freddie's to the Class C championship. Ken McAllister, John Mobley, Rich Rostek, Barry Willard and Mike Ardinger all had three hits for Freddie's.

Miller Lite 19, Dual Highway Motors 16: Jimmy Ezolt, Jeff Beatty and Randy Kretzer had four hits to lead Miller Lite. Brian Smith, Scott Shank and Steve Crabtree each had three hits.

Class D-E softball tourney

Teams interested in playing in the Jerry's Sports Invitational this weekend should call Butch at 301-393-9401. The tournament is for D and E class teams.
