American 9, Halfway 4: Chuck Rouzee had 11 strikeouts as American won the tournament title. Rouzee, Billy Schubert, Robert Golden and Jerrell Rodriguez had two hits for American. Coty Grove had two hits for Halfway.

Diamonds win tourney

FREDERICK, Md. - The Diamonds, a team based in Frederick, went 6-0 to win the NSA D Regional tournament this weekend. The victory qualifies the team for the Super D Nationals in Rockhill, S.C. on Oct. 13-15.

Top hitters were Kevin Richerd (.773), Chad Kearns (.739) and Joe Mullinix (.700).

Keys renew agreement

FREDERICK, Md. - The Frederick Keys announced the extension of the Player Development Contract with the Baltimore Orioles through the 2002 season. Frederick has been affiliated with the Orioles since 1989.
