Hagerstown, which has defeated the Southern Division-leading Sand Gnats in the first two games of the four-game set, loaded the bases with one out in the ninth on three walks. Umbria, a pinch-hitter, hit his sacrifice fly to right field and when the throw into the infield got away, Shannon Carter raced home with another run. Jamie Goudie broke an 0-for-18 slide with an RBI single for a 5-2 lead.

Trailing 1-0, Hagerstown (57-67, 23-31 in the second half) tied the game on Kurt Keene's RBI groundout. The Suns took the lead in the seventh inning on Kevin Cash's seventh homer of the season and second in as many games.

Savannah tied the game in the bottom of the seventh Brett Cadiente's RBI double off Justin Stine (3-4), who picked up the win in relief of Tyler Renwick. Hugo Castellanos pitched to one batter in the ninth, forcing a 5-4-3 game-ending double play to pick up his seventh save.
