Goldie M. Gracey

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Goldie M. Gracey, 96, a resident of the Long Term Care Unit of the Fulton County Medical Center and formerly of Waterfall, Pa., died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000, at Fulton County Medical Center.

Born March 7, 1904, in Wells Tannery, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Hayes and Alice Shaffer Bivens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman S. Gracey, in 1978.

She was a teacher in one-room schools.

She was a member of Center United Methodist Church in Waterfall.

She is survived by a daughter, Alice Virginia Souder of Orrstown, Pa.; two sons, Kenneth M. Gracey and Donald R. Gracey, both of Waterfall; a sister, Maude Farley of Wells Tannery; 14 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances B. Fix; two sisters; two brothers; and a grandchild.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Center United Methodist Church in Waterfall. Pastor George Clippinger will officiate. Burial will be in Center Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at M. R. Brown Funeral Home in Hustontown, Pa.; visitation also will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the church.

Victor E. Whitesel

BOONSBORO - Victor E. Whitesel, 97, a resident of Fahrney Keedy Memorial Home and formerly of 2042 Day Road, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000, at Fahrney Keedy Memorial Home.

Born Feb. 28, 1903, in Mount Crawford, Va., he was the son of the late George E. and Coryetta May Collicho Whitesel.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae E. Whitesel, in 1998.

He attended Pleasant Valley Virginia Schools; and Shenandoah Conservatory of Music.

He was a professional musician and later retired from Whitesel Music Co. on West Franklin Street in Hagerstown.

He was a Protestant.

He was a member of BPO Elks Lodge 378; and AARP.

He is survived by a sister, Frances Smith of Lexington, Va.; and a brother, Norman Whitesel of Mount Crawford.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North in Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert Leaman will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.




Ethel P. Beckner

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Ethel P. "Sami" Beckner, 51, of 436 N. Franklin St., died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Aug. 18, 1949, in Altoona, Pa., she was the daughter of Minnie Pauline Loucks of Altoona and the late Sherman P. Arthur.

She worked at Burt Asper American Legion in Chambersburg as a cook and waitress.

She was a member of Burt Asper American Legion Post 46 of Chambersburg.

She is survived by a daughter, Audra Lynn Miller of Chambersburg; a son, Joseph D. Beckner III of Mont Alto, Pa.; six sisters, Cressa Peters of Carson City, Nev., Shelly Despot, Georgette Lewis and Thelma Lewis, all of Altoona, Tammy Ryame of Erie, Pa., and Mary Ann Harr of Carlisle, Pa.; two brothers, Sherman P. Arthur of Washington and Kenny Kershaw Jr. of Littlestown, Pa.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 725 Norland Ave. in Chambersburg. The Rev. Dianne B. Salter will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will open at 2 p.m. on Tuesday for the convenience of friends.




Marie M. Laman

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Marie M. Laman, 79, of 10201 Five Forks Road, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at her home.

Born March 28, 1921, in Southampton Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Joseph C. and Nettie Wright Beltz.

She retired in 1996 from the Philadelphia Maintenance Co. Earlier, she had worked in the Housekeeping Department at Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pa.

She was a member of Women of the Moose Chapter 1128 of Chambersburg; and a social member of Harry Lackhove American Legion Post 517 of Mercersburg, Pa.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne F. Laman; three daughters, Janet J. Rowe of Greencastle, Pa., Mary Jane Kirby of Chambersburg and Shirley A. Fuller of Zullinger, Pa.; a son, Harry H. Laman of Waynesboro; a sister, Dorothy A. Rife of Orrstown, Pa.; a brother, Harold W. Beltz of Needmore, Pa.; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald E. Laman; a sister; a brother, and a great-grandson.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home in Shippensburg, Pa. The Rev. Phyllis Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Mongul Cemetery in Franklin County, Pa.
