Suns snap their skid

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Hagerstown Suns snapped their six-game losing streak Saturday by defeating the South Atlantic League's Southern Division-leading Savannah Sand Gnats, 4-1.

Cameron Reimers (5-11) pitched eight innings for the win with Jerrod Payne picking up his eighth save of the season.

Catcher Kevin Cash keyed the Suns (56-67, 22-31) both offensively and defensively. He threw out one runner attempting to steal, picked off a runner at third base in the sixth inning and hit a two-run homer - his sixth - in the seventh.

The Suns picked up their first win on this road trip after getting no hits Friday against Augusta.

Hagerstown scored a run in the first inning as Shawn Fagan delivered an RBI double. Savannah tied the game on Steve Hine's RBI double in the fourth inning but Kurt Keene scored on a wild pitch in the fifth to give the Suns a 2-1 lead.

Savannah, despite the loss, maintained its lead in the Southern Division because second-place Augusta lost to Asheville.
