New supervisor named for local Fire Marshal's Office

The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal named a new supervisor for its Western Regional Office in Hagerstown Wednesday.

Mark A. Bilger was promoted to Deputy Chief State Fire Marshal, replacing Ted Meminger, who transferred to the Metro Regional Office.

Bilger, 37, of Hampstead, Md., had been acting supervisor there since Meminger left July 1.

He is a seven-year veteran of the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal and spent the past five years as a fire investigator/fire inspector for the Metro Region, which serves Caroll, Frederick and Howard counties.

Bilger's first two years were spent at the Western Region office, which covers Washington, Allegheny, and Garrett counties.

As supervisor of the Western Regional Office, Bilger will oversee the daily activities of five deputy fire marshals, one fire inspector and an administrative assistant.

He will work closely with the fire and police departments in all three counties and act as a public information officer.
