New Hampshire quarters available

The New Hampshire quarters have been issued and are now available at Hagerstown Trust Co. branches, Dave Barnhart, the bank's vice president of marketing, said Monday.

Customers can get the new commemorative quarters at banks for the first few weeks after their release, he said. But after that, people have to find them in general circulation, which is sometimes harder, he said.

Barnhart said the Virginia coin will be out in about 10 weeks.

The New Hampshire coin bears that state's motto: "Live Free or Die."

It also depicts "The Old Man of the Mountain," a rock formation that can be found on Mt. Cannon in the Franconia Notch gateway to Northern New Hampshire.

Details about the coins and the schedule for the other quarters are available on the Internet at www.usmint.gov/50States/.

The quarters are being issued in the order that the states joined the union.

The West Virginia quarter is scheduled to come out in 2005.
