June R. Gould

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - June Robertson Gould, 77, of Shepherdstown, and formerly of Bethesda, Md., died of cancer Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at her home.

She was born in Beckley, W.Va.

She worked as a teletypist for the Associated Press in Newark, N.J., during World War II.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Geoffrey S. Gould; two daughters, Kathy Gould Frye of Gaithersburg, Md. and Martha Robertson Gould of Bethesda; a son, Steven Gould of Shepherdstown; and five grandchildren.

Kristin B. Swanson

Kristin Bowen Swanson, 33, of 9717 Old National Pike, Hagerstown, who died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, was a member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church and was active in the Life Teen program.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today at 1:30 p.m. at St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, Hagerstown. The Rev. Msgr. Edward W. Manalis will be celebrant.

Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

Mildred A. Jenkins

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Mildred Ann Jenkins, 51, of Charles Town, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.

Born Feb. 28, 1949, in High Point, N.C., she was the daughter of Annie Roseline VanMeter of Charles Town and the late Johny Shackleford.

She was a Protestant.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by two brothers, William Alston VanMeter of Harpers Ferry, W.Va. and Raymond Alston VanMeter of North Augusta, S.C.; and a niece.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn VanMeter.

Graveside services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery in Martinsburg. The Rev. James Smith will officiate.

Arrangements are by Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, Ranson.

Randa M. Wasson

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Randa Mae Rodrick Wasson, 48, of Martinsburg, and formerly of Charles Town, W.Va., died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, in Winchester, Va.

Born Aug. 25, 1951, in Charles Town, she was the daughter of Randolph H. Rodrick Jr. of Shawnee Spring Home in Winchester, and the late Isabelle M. Vernon Rodrick.

She was a homemaker.

She was a Baptist.

She is survived by a daughter, Lisa Baumgardner of Martinsburg; and a brother, R. Vernon Rodrick of Charles Town.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town. Dr. Wyman Hall will officiate.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are by Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.

Richard E. Miller Jr.

EVERETT, Wash. - Richard E. Miller Jr., 49, of Everett, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at Providence General Medical Center in Everett.

Born April 26, 1951, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Richard E. Miller Sr. of Newark, Del., and the late Mary Louise Ditto Miller.

He worked as a dispatcher for a courier service.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Catherine "Cathy" Dale Miller, whom he married Nov. 25, 1986; a daughter, MacKenzie Miller Jeans of Portland, Ore.; a stepdaughter, Judy Cadd; a stepson, Kevin Fisher; a sister, Connie Nahale-a of Pahoa, Hawaii; and two stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Jean Miller.

A memorial service was held Saturday, July 29, at 10 a.m. at Solie Funeral Home in Everett. Pastor Richard Edmonds officiated.

The family received friends Saturday, July 29, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

David C. Roberts Jr.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - David C. Roberts Jr., 50, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg.

Born Dec. 13, 1949, in Martinsburg, he was the son of Elizabeth M. Bartles Orr of Martinsburg and the late David C. Roberts.

He was a graduate of Martinsburg High School.

He was employed by Wal-Mart.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He attended Independent Bible Church.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his stepfather, William L. Orr; a stepdaughter, Andrea Grace Roque Tabian of Frederick, Md.; a stepson, Alberto Roque Tabian of Frederick; two sisters, Gwymn Albright and Linda Roberts, both of Martinsburg; a brother, Timothy Roberts of Martinsburg.; and a half sister, Rebecca Linton of Inwood, W.Va.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Pleasant View Memory Gardens, with military graveside services conducted by Veterans Combined Honor Guard of Martinsburg.

Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.

Roger E. Truax

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Roger Earl Truax, 57, of 165 Thorton Drive, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pa.

Born March 17, 1943, in Harrisonville, Pa., he was the son of Ivan and Rose Clark Truax of Needmore, Pa.

He was a postal contract carrier; and worked for Truax's Countryside Meats in McConnellsburg.

He served in the Chambersburg National Guard.

He was a member of Cito United Methodist Church in McConnellsburg.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Patricia "Pat" Truax, whom he married Aug. 19, 1967; two sons, Bradly R. Truax and Scott Truax, both of McConnellsburg; two sisters, Lucille Truax of Harrisonville, Pa. and Diane Snook of Missouri; and a brother, Donald Truax of McConnellsburg.
