Potomac Classical Youth Ballet Company, a nonprofit company, will audition area ballet students ages 13 to 18 for full company membership. The company also will accept apprentices who were at least 12 by Jan. 1. Positions are open for male and female dancers.

Students should arrive no later than 12:30 p.m. at the school in proper attire. Girls should bring pointe shoes. The audition will last approximately two hours.

Auditions for "The Nutcracker"

Saturday, Sept. 9, 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Audition time for ages 12 to adult is 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; ages 8 to 11, 1 to 2:30 p.m.; and ages 5 to 7, 3 to 4:30 p.m.

Two performances of "The Nutcracker" will be presented at The Maryland Theatre, Saturday, Dec. 16, and Sunday, Dec. 17, with the Maryland Symphony Orchestra and soloists Lauren Anderson and Dominic Walsh from the Houston Ballet.

Dancers must be present for the entire block of time noted for their age group. These are not individual walk-in auditions. More than 80 dancers, are needed for the production. Children who audition must be studying ballet. Adults, needed for the party scene, need no previous dance training.

Children wishing to audition must be accompanied by an adult and arrive in proper dance attire at least 15 minutes early to register. There is no audition fee. Bring height and weight measurements, dress, shirt and pants sizes.

Each role usually rehearses once each weekend. Rehearsals will be at City Ballet School. Call 301-733-5833.
