Local woman killed in Pa. accident

ST. THOMAS, Pa. - A Hagerstown, Md., woman was killed and three others injured Sunday morning in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Warm Spring and Bullitt roads in St. Thomas Township, according to Pennsylvania State police.

Kristin B. Swanson, 33, of 9717 Old National Pike, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 10:55 a.m. accident, police said. The cause of death was multiple traumatic injuries, according to Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner.

The report said Swanson was driving a 2000 Saturn and tried to make a left turn onto Warm Spring Road from Bullitt Road. Police said the Saturn pulled into the path of a northbound Ford Ranger pickup driven by Anthony Meyers, 27, of Greencastle, Pa., and the truck hit the driver's side of the car.

Two passengers in Swanson's car, Steven O'Farrell, 30, and James Jardinier, 30, both of Hagerstown, were admitted to Chambersburg Hospital and were in satisfactory condition Sunday evening, according to a nursing supervisor.

Meyers also had minor injuries, according to police, but there was no record of him being treated at area hospitals.

Conner said the intersection was closed for several hours and a state police accident reconstructionist was brought in to investigate the accident.
