Constant rain dampens activities

A day of gray skies and ceaseless rainfall put a damper on scheduled events throughout Washington County Sunday.

About .74 inches of rain had fallen on Hagerstown by 4 p.m., according Hagerstown Weather Observer Greg Keefer's Web site.

The precipitation brought the monthly total to 1.43 inches and yearly to 31.45 inches, Keefer's Web site said.

The Washington County Ag-Expo rodeo, Hagerstown City Park Jonathan Hager Days and Wheaton Park concert series were canceled or ended early as a result of the weather.

Temperatures reached a high of 69 degrees and southeast winds generated a peak gust of 24 mph Sunday.

More rain was expected through Friday with cloudy skies and a chance of precipitation each day, forecasters said.

Highs were to be in the upper 80s to 90s with lows in the 60s to 70s.
