Dorothy L. Kline

Dorothy L. Kline, 56, of Hagerstown, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at her home.

Born Jan. 23, 1944, in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late William Jeff and Virginia M. Cook Frederick.

She was a 1962 graduate of North Hagerstown High School.

She was a homemaker.

She volunteered in the Washington County school system for 14 years.

She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Ronald E. Kline Sr.; a daughter, Kimberly K. Kline of Greenbelt, Md.; a stepson, Ronald E. Kline Jr. of Las Vegas; a brother, Glenn W. Frederick Sr. of Hagerstown; two grandsons; nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. Loyal H. Vanderveer will officiate.


There will be no viewing or visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to John R. Marsh Cancer Center, 11110 Medical Campus Road, Hagerstown, MD 21740, or to Hospice of Washington County, 101 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Arrangements are by Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.

Emma J. Wheeler

CLEAR SPRING - Emma J. Wheeler, 52, of 1338 Blair's Valley Road, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Nov. 13, 1947, in Natchez, Miss., she was the daughter of Herman L. and Nancy M. Matthews Davis of Shreveport, La.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur L. Wheeler; a son, K. Jason Walton of Stonewall, La.; a stepson, Philip Wheeler of Monroe, La.; a stepdaughter, Tammy Wheeler of Dunkirk, N.Y.; two sisters, Velma E. Watson of McHenry, Miss., and Carolyn D. Aswell of Houston; three brothers, Leroy Davis of Houma, La., Herman L. Davis Jr., of Houston and Jimmy Davis of St. Louis.

Funeral services will be announced by Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.

William H. Slick

William H. Slick, 68, of 11307 Marbern Road, Hagerstown, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born June 1, 1932, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Frederick L. and Elsie J. Barnhart Slick.

He retired from Ellsworth Electric and had worked for M&L Electric.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Korea.

He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.

He was a member of Morris Frock Post 42, American Legion; Conococheague Redman Tribe 84 and A.A.R.P.

He is survived by his wife, Joy D. Rohrer Slick; three daughters, Deborah L. Lida and Mayrene J. Moore, both of Williamsport, and Betty J. Slick of Hagerstown; two sisters, Kathleen E. Slick and Betty J. Byers, both of Hagerstown; a brother, Jack W. Slick of Clear Spring; two granddaughters; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick L. Slick Jr.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Stephen D. Robison will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Visitation will be held today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lynne M. Bowen

Lynne Marie Albano Bowen, 54, of Hagerstown, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

Born Oct. 15, 1945, in Norfolk, Va., she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Albano Sr.

She was a graduate of Walsingham Academy in Williamsburg, Va., and attended Old Dominion University, Norfolk.

She had been employed in real estate and software design and development.

She was instrumental in revising the PTA system at Freemont School, Chicago.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Andrew J. Bowen IV, whom she married in 1965; a daughter, Elizabeth Edwards of Raleigh, N.C.; two sons, Andrew J. Bowen V of Hagerstown and Scott Bowen of Middletown, Conn.; a sister, Grace Orsini of Norfolk; a brother, James A. Albano Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va.; and six grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 1 p.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Hagerstown. The Rev. Michael J. Jendrek will be celebrant. Burial will be private in Rockland Cemetery near Front Royal, Va.

The family will receive friends today from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.

Richard S. Duffy

Richard Snavely Duffy, of Sunnyside Drive, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Dec. 16, 1917, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Richard and Mary E. Snavely Duffy.

He was a graduate of Hagerstown High School and later attended Hagerstown Junior College and the University of Maryland.

He was employed with Letterkenny Army Depot for 30 years and was formerly employed with Pangborn Corp. and H.J. Heinz Co.
