Where seniors can get computer skills training:

Washington County

Hagerstown Community College Institute for Learning in Retirement

The institute offers a variety of courses, many of them computer-related. Cost ranges from $20 to $60. Registration for fall classes opens in August.

Berkeley County, W.Va.

Classes began July 31 and Aug. 1. For information on future classes, contact volunteer computer program coordinator Verna Anson at 1-304 263-7721.

Franklin County, Pa.

The Area Office on Aging offers a five-week, $35 course that teaches the basic of computer operation and the Internet. The classes, at the Franklin County Career and Technology Center and Waynesboro Area Senior High School, are open to Franklin County seniors age 60 and older. Call 1-717-263-2153.

Senior centers

Seniors also can get Internet access at most of the region's senior citizen centers and libraries. Several senior citizen homes also offer computer access and instruction.
