Iva M. McMath


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Iva Marie "Johnny" Benchoff McMath, 87, of Shook Home, and formerly of Brandon Drive, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, at the home.

Born March 15, 1913, in Highfield, she was the daughter of the late Ralph C. and Della B. Kendall Benchoff.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald McMath, in 1999. They were married July 6, 1963.

She was employed as a press operator at Stanley Co. in Chambersburg for 30 years. She retired in the late 1970s.

She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Chambersburg.

She was a member of National AARP.

She is survived by five nieces, Connie Shockey and Carolyn Sheeley, both of Waynesboro, Pa., Pauletta Deiterich of Hagerstown, Gail Wagaman of Bunker Hill, W.Va. and Winnie Grove of Williamsport; and a nephew, Dennis Shockey of Waynesboro.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Norvella Young, Elenora Kramer and Bland Shockey.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. in Waynesboro. The Rev. Michael K. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

M. Isabel Martin


GREENCASTLE, Pa. - M. Isabel Diller Martin, 79, of 10796 Grindstone Hill Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000, at her home.

Born Sept. 20, 1920, in Chambersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Silas S. and Emma Horst Diller.

Her husband, Roy H. Martin, died in 1976.

She and her husband farmed.

She was a member of Waynecastle Mennonite Church near Waynesboro, Pa.

She is survived by six daughters, Joyce L. Martin and Lois A. Eby, both of Greencastle, Miriam E. Shank of Chambersburg, Pa., Betty M. Heatwole of Denmark, S.C., and Mary E. Martin and Esther L. Diller, both of Hagerstown; five sons, John D. Martin of Chambersburg, Luke A. Martin and Gerald R. Martin, both of Greencastle, and twins Daniel S. Martin and David S. Martin, both of Harrisonburg, Va.; two sisters, Louise Frey and Fanny Frey, both of Chambersburg; seven brothers, Ray Diller, H. Lester Diller, Charles Diller, H. Leroy Diller, Robert Diller, John Diller and James Diller, all of Chambersburg; 49 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Diller.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Reiff Mennonite Church, Reiff Church Road near Maugansville. The Waynecastle Mennonite Church Ministry will officiate. Burial will be in Reiff Mennonite Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Waynecastle Mennonite Church, 10617 Five Forks Road, Waynesboro, Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. There also will be a viewing at Reiff Mennonite Church at 9 a.m. Saturday.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Harold J. Miller Sr.


McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Harold Jackson Miller Sr., 75, of 323 Knobsville Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000, at Fulton County Medical Center.

Born March 24, 1925, he was the son of the late Harry and Bessie Clevenger Miller.

He was a repairman at Letterkenny Army Depot.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He was a Protestant.

He was a member of VFW and American Legion Post 561, both of McConnellsburg; McConnellsburg Rifle and Pistol Club; and Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his wife, Isabelle Stoops Miller, whom he married May 30, 1970; two daughters, Paula Everts of McConnellsburg and Bonnie Garland of Amaranth, Pa.; four sons, Jackie Miller Jr. of McConnellsburg, Jim Miller and John Miller, both of Mercersburg, Pa. and Troy Miller of Clear Ridge, Pa.; a brother, Dick Miller of McConnellsburg; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Shives.

Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. Second St. in McConnellsburg. The Rev. Christian Elliot will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, with military services by Fulton County Honor Guard of McConnellsburg.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will open at 2 p.m. today.

John W. Bruning


KNOXVILLE, Md. - John Walter Bruning, 67, of 628 Tritapoe Drive, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital.

Born June 9, 1933, in New Haven, Conn., he was the son of the late Walter Sebastian and Katherine Sugure Bruning.

He retired as owner of and baker at Jefferson Pastry Shop in Jefferson, Md.

A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Petersville, Md.

He was a member of American Legion Post 41 of Silver Spring, Md.; Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1582; and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1136, both of Brunswick, Md.
