Marie Byers named Jones fellow

Charter President B. Marie Byers of Hagerstown Lioness Club has been named a Melvin Jones Fellow by Lions Club International Foundation, in recognition of her commitment to serving her Lioness Club, her local community and the world community.

Byers was nominated by her "sister" Lionesses for the Fellowship for 22 years of outstanding service to the club and the community.

The Hagerstown Lioness Club was organized in February 1978 with 33 members, with Byers as president. It was sponsored by the Hagerstown Lions Club and certified March 2, 1978. It now has 83 members and is the oldest and largest Lioness Club in District 22-W and the largest in Multiple District 22.

The fellowship is the Foundation's highest honor and is named for the founder of Lions Clubs International, Melvin Jones.
