Preliminary hearing set in Pa. drug case


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A preliminary hearing was set for 11 a.m. Thursday before District Justice Larry Meminger for a New York man charged with transporting drug paraphernalia and crack cocaine.

Jermaine Bishop, 27, of 1382 College Ave., E2, Bronx, N.Y., was pulled over at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday by Chambersburg Borough Police for a stop sign violation, police said.

According to allegations in the affidavit, police found suspected crack cocaine, a razor and electronic scales. Police alleged the items tested positive for the presence of cocaine residue.

Bishop was arraigned Sunday and held in the Franklin County Prison. He was released Tuesday on $10,000 bail.

Kayaks stolen from Knoxville outfitter


KNOXVILLE, Md. - Three kayaks chained together in an outside display were stolen from a Knoxville business July 26, according to Maryland State Police.

Police said the kayaks were taken from River and Trail Outfitters at 604 Valley Road during the early hours of July 26.

The kayaks are valued at $1,600.

State police ask those with information to call 301-739-2101.
