FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - A Fayetteville man has been charged with videotaping naked children periodically since February, Pennsylvania authorities said Thursday.

The 30-year-old man is charged with one count of indecent assault and six counts each of sexual abuse of children and corruption of minors, Pennsylvania State Police in Chambersburg said. The man has been released on $10,000 bail on the condition that he not communicate with the children, records show.

A preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m. Aug. 21 before District Justice Larry K. Meminger.

The investigation turned up a videotape discovered in a bedroom trunk, police said. Allegations have been made that one of the videotapes shows two boys and two girls appearing nude, court records show. Another adult allegedly discovered the videotape, sparking the investigation.

According to the affidavit, three of the children are 9 and the others are 8, 7 and 5. Four females and two males are mentioned in the records.

Records show that District Justice David Hawbaker granted a search warrant to police. The man's residence was inspected early Monday. According to allegations in court records, police found and seized pornographic magazines, negatives and videotapes.

Police have determined that the man's voice is on the videotape and that he did the filming, records allege.

Police interviewed at least two of the children separately Monday afternoon and both gave accounts of the videotaping, the affidavit said.

After police questioned the man about what he was being charged with, court records state that the man admitted that he needed help because he found watching the girls to be arousing. He also allegedly told police that he should not have recorded the tape, an affidavit filed in the case said.

Court records also show that the man has allegedly admitted to having sexual contact with one of the females - a minor child - and that he has provided police with a written statement admitting to a number of tape sessions.
