Suns lose in 9th



HICKORY, N.C. - The Hagerstown Suns' two-game winning streak ended Monday night as their fifth error of the game allowed the Hickory Crawdads to score in the ninth for a 7-6 victory in South Atlantic League Northern Division play.

Hickory jumped on Hagerstown starting pitcher Marcos Sandoval for six runs, five earned, in six innings while Crawdads' starter Justin Reid had a no-hitter for 5 2/3 innings.

Hagerstown (13-17 in the second half, 47-53 overall) scored three runs in the sixth when, after two walks, Reed Johnson banged a double, the Suns' first hit, good for one run and Shawn Fagan followed with a two-run double.

The Suns tied the game in the seventh on a run-scoring error and Brandon Jackson's two-run triple, his seventh of the season.

Hagerstown, which concludes its eight-game road trip tonight in Hickory, is 3-4 so far. The Suns return home on Thursday night.
