Doris E. Watkins


TAMPA, Fla. - Doris E. MacKercher Watkins, 88, of Tampa, and formerly of Chambersburg, Pa., died Friday, July 21, 2000, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Tampa.

She was born Sept. 2, 1911, in eastern Pennsylvania.

Her husband, William T. Watkins, died Feb. 17, 1983.

She was a member of Temple Heights Baptist Church, Tampa. She was a former member of Chambersburg Bible Church. She taught Sunday School for over 50 years.

She is survived by a son, Garth Watkins of Scranton, Pa.; two grandchildren, Faith Sharpe of Elmira, N.Y., and Cathy Zeger of St. Thomas, Pa.; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. The Rev. John Springer will officiate.

There will be no viewing.

Memorial contributions may be made to Chambersburg Bible Church Building Fund, 810 Orchard Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Elywn O. Bowers


Elywn O. Bowers, 88, of 1123 Moller Ave., Hagerstown died Saturday, July 22, 2000, at Homewood Retirement Center, Williamsport.

Born Aug. 11, 1911, in Plymouth, N.C., she was the daughter of the late James W. and Maude M. Spruill Overton.

See was retired from Williamsport Nursing Home as an L.P.N.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She is survived by a son, William O. Bowers of Hagerstown; two grandchildren, Colleen Baiata and Scott Wishard; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patsy Ann Wishard and five sisters, Audrey D. Jordon, Doris Mette, Mary W. Delote, Maude Overton and Julia Jones.

Graveside services will be held Monday, July 31, 2000, at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Homewood Retirement Center, 16505 Virginia Ave., Williamsport, MD 21795

Fannie Albright


MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Fannie Albright, 92, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, July 22, 2000, at City Hospital.

Born June 29, 1908, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James R. and Sarah Elmira Smith Shipper.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis William Albright.

She is survived by a daughter, Norma K. Price of Martinsburg; a sister, Dorothy Wilburn of Inwood, W.Va.; a grandson, Glenville D. Price Jr. of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; and a great-granddaughter,

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Cora S. Strother and Olive Foust; seven brothers, George Dewey Shipper, Norman Shipper, Jacob A. Shipper, Clarence Shipper, Frank Shipper, Samuel Shipper and Willard Shipper.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Louise Barrett will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Martha M. Goetz


GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Martha M. Goetz, 82, of 10376 Hades Church Road, and formerly of 163 E. Washington St., Chambersburg, Pa., died Saturday, July 22, 2000, at her home.

Born Nov. 3, 1917, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Nettie McFadden Danzeberger.

Her husband, Paul E. Goetz, died March 4, 1978.

In her early life, she was employed at the former Hershey Creamery and later worked at PET Inc., for 22 years, retiring in 1978.

She attended Hamilton Heights Brethren in Christ Church, Chambersburg, which was formerly Hamilton Heights Holiness Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Guyer of Knoxville, Tenn.; three sisters, Lottie Hirsch, Helen Leeper and Jeanette Lawyer, all of Chambersburg; two brothers, John W. Danzeberger and Robert M. Danzeberger Sr., both of Chambersburg; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. James C. Strite will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert E. Long Jr.


FT. LOUDON, Pa. - Robert E. Long Jr., 80, of 1440 Path Valley Road, died Saturday, July 22, 2000, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.

Born Jan. 10, 1920, in Elmhurst, N.Y., he was the son of the late Robert E. Sr. and Margaret Bellwood Long.

His wife, Betty E. Evans Long, died Dec. 17, 1990.

He was former manager of a jewelry store in Blairsville, Pa. For many years he was a salesman for Pergament Co., Long Island, N.Y., retiring in 1978. He also was a sewing machine mechanic, repairing commercial sewing machines.
