Clara R. Ridenour


Clara Ruth Ridenour, 86, of Hagerstown, died Friday, July 21, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.

Born May 8, 1914, in St. Thomas, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Nora High Walck.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor C. Ridenour, in 1993.

She retired from W.H. Reisner Manufacturing after 32 years of services.

She was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church in Marlowe, W.Va.

She was a member of Ladies of the Elks Lodge 378 of Hagerstown.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Gossard of Shepherdstown, W.Va., and Frances Williamson of Hagerstown; a brother, Raymond Walck of Waynesboro, Pa.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Hilda Miller and Marie Clevenger.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. Pastor Ernest Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Alma R. Miller


WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Alma R. Peiffer Miller, 74, of 216 Geiser Ave., died Friday, July 21, 2000, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born Oct. 7, 1925, in Greencastle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Elmer A. and Blanche Bitner Peiffer.

She was a 1943 graduate of Washington Township High School.

She was first employed in the payroll department at Frick Co. in Waynesboro. Later, she worked for Moul's Gift Shop on Main Street in Waynesboro. She retired in 1988 from Peoples Drug Store, now CVS Pharmacy, after 20 years of service.

She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, where she was a member of Married Couples Sunday School Class.

She was a member of South Mountain Golf Course of South Mountain, Pa., and National AARP.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jerome W. Miller Jr.; three sons, Carroll E. Miller of Fort Worth, Texas, Edward L. Miller of Waynesboro and Alan L. Miller of Walkersville, Md.; eight grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Merle C. Peiffer of Dallas; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys M. Davis.

Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, 104 N. Potomac St. in Waynesboro. The Rev. Lynn D. Trutt will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to the Parking Lot Fund, Faith United Methodist Church, 104 N. Potomac St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.

Arrangements are by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
