Power restored in Hancock

Power was restored by Friday night to more than 1,000 Allegheny Power customers in the Hancock area who were blacked out around 8:24 a.m. Friday, when equipment at a substation failed.

The areas affected included Pennsylvania Avenue, western portions of the town of Hancock and toward Warfordsburg, Pa.

Crews from the Williamsport service center were dispatched immediately to assess the damage and work on restoration of service, said Debbie Beck, Allegheny Power spokesman.
