Ethel E. Swain

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Ethel Estella Swain, 80, of Buck Valley Road, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, Pa.

Born Nov. 10, 1919, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Russcella Hill Schriver.

She was a 1938 graduate of Warfordsburg High School.

She was formerly employed by Town Hill Hotel in Little Orleans, Md.; and by Woodmont Rod and Gun Club in Hancock. She worked in the U.S. Navy Yard in Washington, D.C., during World War II.

She was a member of Hancock Assembly of God in Hancock.

She is survived by her husband, Vernon T. Swain, whom she married Sept. 14, 1941; a daughter, Linda Lou Hixon of Hancock; a son, Rodney V. Swain of Acworth, Ga.; a sister, Mabel L. Green of Cumberland; a brother, N. Eugene Schriver of Warfordsburg; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a stepgreat-grandchild; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Nellie Ours, Elizabeth Trail and Maxine Swain; and two brothers, Cecil Schriver and John Schriver.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Hancock Assembly of God, Pennsylvania Avenue in Hancock. The Revs. Robert D. Smith Sr. and Charles Foshee will officiate. Burial will be in Buck Valley Memorial Cemetery, Buck Valley Road in Warfordsburg.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St. in Hancock, which will open at 2 p.m. Visitation also will be Friday at noon at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to Buck Valley Cemetery Association, 712 Gienger Road, Warfordsburg, PA 17267.

Winifred M. DeHaven

Winifred Madeline "Wini" DeHaven, 76, of 20009 Rosebank Way, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.

Eric G. Pitzer

Eric G. Pitzer, 35, of Hagerstown, died Monday, July 17, 2000, at his home.

Born March 2, 1965, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late Ned and Ruth Hines Pitzer.

He is survived by 11 sisters, Erin Gayle Pitzer, Cheryl Fay Shifflett, Cindy Shifflett and Roberta Brining, all of Martinsburg, Beverly Kendle of Falling Waters, W.Va., Rosa Butts and Joy Pitzer, both of Glengary, W.Va., Rhonda Shifflett of Hedgesville, W.Va., Annette Pitzer of Pennsylvania, Betty Nelson of San Diego and Cynthia Michell of Strasburg, Va.; six brothers, Cecil Shifflett, John Shifflett, Harry L. Siford and Ned Pitzer Jr., all of Martinsburg, Charles Shifflett of Glengary, W.Va. and Sydney Pitzer of Winchester, Va.; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. The Rev. David A. Risley will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Cody L. Cash

GERRARDSTOWN, W.Va. - Cody Lee Cash, 13, of Gerrardstown, died Monday, July 17, 2000, at New River, Pulaski County, Va.

Born March 2, 1987, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of James Fred Lee Cash Jr. of Radford, Va., and Tracey Gladden Cash of Gerrardstown.

He was a student at Musselman Middle School.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by maternal grandparents, the Revs. John F. and Talma Gladden of Gerrardstown; paternal grandparents, Bryan and Rhea Christian of Manassas, Va.; a brother, Terry Wayne Cash, at home; and three sisters, Marlina Nicole Cash, Marina Lynn Cash and Brittany Ann Owens, all at home.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Heritage Freewill Baptist Church of Inwood. The Rev. Tom Blake will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.

Theresa A. Houck

Theresa A. Houck, 35, of 945 View St. in Hagerstown, and formerly of Hollidaysburg, Pa., died Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at Topsoil Beach in Jacksonville, N.C., where she drowned.

Born Oct. 8, 1964, in Altoona, Pa., she was the daughter of Susan McNelis Mock of Lakemont, Pa. and the late Lloyd Houck.

She was a 1982 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School.

She was employed by St. Lawrence Cement Co. in Hagerstown.

She served in the U.S. Marine Corps for two years.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her stepfather, Jerrold Mock of Lakemont; a daughter, Ashley Houck at home; four sisters, Karen Baum of Jacksonville, Linda Santore of Altoona, Sandy Lightner of Duncansville, Pa. and Christine Houck of Hagerstown; a brother, Kevin Houck of Hagerstown; four stepsisters, Sherry McConnell of Napoleon, Ohio, Dawn Hand, Barbara Hillard and Wanda McConnell all of Altoona; and two stepbrothers, Paul Mock and Richard Hillard, both of Altoona.

Services will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Plank, Stitt and Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg. Pastor James Boulware will officiate. Burial will be in New St. Mary's Cemetery in Hollidaysburg.
